if you consider finishing 5th, BELOW EVERTON, a good season then you are a fool.  Either that or you have no idea what Liverpool FC is about.

We won the CL - the trophy we treasured for so long in the 80s - coming 5th or 4th or 3rd made no difference at all - it was a fantastic season .

what do you think people would of said to you if you were sitting near me in istanbul and said - well that wasnt a good season - we only won the CL .

Numpty .

You were in Istanbul?

The way you post i wonder if you've ever been to Anfield.

and the year we won the FA cup...we were miles off the pace in the league then too...it has always been about winning the league.

Rafa had one good season, the season we finished 2nd and almost beat man utd to the Premiership.

Painting each season in black or white probably isn't the best way to assess the manager's reign. It was defined by various shades of grey throughout (hence the great divide) but nevertheless I agree more with Mullet?head on this one. We weren't exactly in the running the year before Rafa came and having (unavoidably) lost our best striker, to go and win the Champions League (and get the final of the CC) made it a special season. It's a disgrace that some people now brush it off as a sideshow because of the obsesssion with the league. Anyway, at the time it was defo seen as a good season, probably yourself included.

Thereafter we had a period of squad building that took the squad to a new level though ultimately we didn't make the most of it. I class 05/06 as a reasonably good season, and 06/07 as a bit of strange one - bittersweet perhaps because our league form went backwards but yet we still conjured another epic CL run. The 07/08 was a bit mediocre, and the 08/09 season a progressive one as we finally clicked in the league. Last season was an unqualified disaster, not a hint of progress on any front, completely the reverse in fact.

I am willing to bet with you that we will finish below Everton this season and it wont be in 5th place either.

sorry to pop your Wafa dream, but we only finished 2 points above the bitters this season.

then go and support someone else. I'm sick of 'fans' like you writing off our new manager before he's even started. If Roy was Spanish, or Italian then I bet he wouldn't get HALF the abuse he's got on here.

Roy is our new manager either give him a chance or feck off.

its not that pal. I like roy its just think people on here realise why he was chosen instead of kenny and capello. Plus no offence to roy he will struggle to keep our foreign stars and also struggle to bring in top stars from around europe like capello would have the opposite affect in my opinion and get more respect from our top stars. Plus the owners want a yes man which capello and kenny are certainly not!

Kenny was never an option in my view. He's been out of the game far too long and it would look like an act of desperation to bring him back.

We need Kenny upstairs fighting our corner and an old hand in the dugout sorting out the team. Roy isn't my first choice, but he's here and he deserves some respect. It is sad to see 'fans' slagging him off with childish names because he isn't their first choice.

dont you think by throwing his name into the hat, Kenny has kinda muddied the waters and made things abit awkward for the next manager?
