New Manager - Who would you have? (merged thread)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thing is nan it's almost unfair to ask him to come in as it's under worst possible circumstances. It's almost setting him up for a fall. Of course I could be wrong and they could give him 50mil to spend.

I can see it now, the antis and pros are basically going to swap places lol they'll start to see the tight conditions rafa had to work in when they couldnt

bavlondon wrote:No thanks. Another unproven foreign manager? If we are going to get someone like that maybe we should get someone who has actually won la liga? Oh yeah we had one of those. :(

Id rather we stick closer to home if it's only going to be a stop gap manager.

I would take Pelligrini. Some attacking football would be nice for a change.

There are 2 issues here:

1. Kenny the man. First day of the season, 5 minutes before kick off Kenny walks onto the pitch by himself. Silence  reigns, Kenny looks into the eyes of the crowd, lets the stadium know who the new gaffer is.  Instant credibility.

2. Kenny the manager. Knows none of Rafa's/modern managers methods - the training scheme, the endless hours of fitness tests, diet analysis, player videos, etc.. the ethos that was Rafa. One of the great services Rafa did was to drag us into the modern game - kenny is way out of touch. Spend 50 million - on who, Kenny?

I cant see how it would be good for the great man, he IS THE MAN, but its like asking Bobby Charlton to take over from Whiskeynose, its fantasy.

going by them reports today about Harry getting 30mil to spend.

anyway dont be shocked that rafa was told he was only going to be given 5mil, looking back at it now it might have been their last chance to get him to walk for free.

and yes i feel that the new manager will get around 30mil to spend.........just hope it dont come from the 60mil sale of torres lol

I thought it was 5!  :p

But anyway why wasn't this 30 given to Rafa before? For gods sake look at what he has done for the club. Hello... a European Cup? We came within a whisker of the league a few seasons ago.

All we needed was a bit more money to bring in 1 or 2 players and we could have pushed on. Instead we have taken 3 steps back and have been leapfrogged by not 1 but 2 clubs both of which don't look like falling back any time soon.

I assume Rafa would have got the same 30 million once he'd cleared out the deadwood, Babel etc..

Rafa was right after Athens when he said about the players he needed to get in. That was the beginning of the end
