in some respects it is a brave decision, cuz now they gotta find a manager prepared to put his reputation on the line to try ressurectin one of the biggest names in european football operatin under the same conditions Benitez had. I know we dont fully know/understand those conditions, but do we really see big investment comin in from the board/owners? Is it a decision that results in someone new sellin the 'names' within the club to raise a transfer kitty? Are the board/owners prepared for the outcry that usin Torres/Gerrard/Reina/Mascherano et al to fund a new team AND pay off interest payments would bring?

Okay, pure speculation on the sellin of players, but the club needs money, lots of it, to rebuild the very thin squad we got, finance the repayments on our debts, improve the corporate boxes, pay Rafa's exit fee...... - and can you really see that money comin from owners that took a loan to pay for Nando?

Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

Get it into your thick heads. He's the only person willing to stand up to the real cancer at the club who are those two ba$tards running the show.

The decision to get rid of Rafa (if it has been taken) has f#ck all to do with football. It's about politics and I'd be very surprised if the decision on who's taking over next isn't influenced heavily by those politics aswell.

They are getting rid of Rafa so they can make the decisions on who is sold and for how much. Kenny will be a passenger in the whole process.

Basically, we are screwed. I can't believe people are seriously happy about this.

This..

couldn't have put it better myself, this is the exact reason i got a horrible sinking feeling in my stomache right now.. didn't we reject a recent 60 mil offer from city for torres? well with a Rafa out and the yanks + a yes man in full charge of transfers.. you watch the next offer around that value get snatched right up.

still hoping he digs his heels in and tells them to :censored: off.. but if he goes i wish him all the best wherever he goes and thank him for the memories and trophies.

oh and i respect anti-rafas views even if i dont agree with them.. but if he is to go.. put ya differences aside and give him a good send off, no need for insults, gloating or sly digs (even though this only applies to a few divvies)

Forget about money for a minute. The players weren't playing for the man anymore, he couldnt get them to perform.. when that happens it is time to move on. we were stale, boring, lacked everything we need

The level of sanctimony from some of the fans on here is just as mind-boggling.

Guillem Balague has suggested that the decision to "remove" Benitez from Liverpool had nothing to do with player influence, but was due to four years without a trophy and 7th in the league last season.

He also believes Fernando Torres will stay and Gerrard might opt for another English team (four teams are interested) instead of Real Madrid.

oh shhh, hes gone, move on. the players wanted him gone, half the fans wanted him gone, we were getting worse and worse. he had no ideas, was too stubborn to change, hes gone.

It's funny how the 'antis' get abused on here so much. Everyone wants what is best for the club. Just half the fans can see the players wouldnt play for him anymore, whilst the other half seem to blame the owners for everything. Yeah the owners are cnuts and need to go, but we need a new manager as well

you're probably right Daws, I just think that now is an awful time for him to go given the situation of the club

or we have a buyer in the pipeline that wants to pick their own manager...

God knows, but its only the 3rd of June so have a long time for things to develop, hopefully things will go in the right directon, though I won't hold my breath

We can't go in the right direction until new owners come into the club.

I will give him at least 3 years to improve things (not moving from 2nd to 7th place) whether he looks decent like Rafa or some cocky Mourinho.

Just got off the flight from Singapore to see this news.

Unbelieveable and a further indication of how much trouble the club is in.

Cronic owners, doubtful CEO, doubtful MD, no manager or backroom staff and a weak squad.

WHAT A MESS.

For the past two years we've been "lead" by owners and management who've had their own agendas and neither agenda has been for the betterment of LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB. There have been too much greed, too much ego, too much living off lucky past results.
It won't matter in the slightest who buys our club there will be restrictions on how much the new manager can spend. When the Yanks go the new owners won't be Scousers, there's no one with that kind of money. We will end up with Arabs or Indians or more Yanks or Chinese. Don't believe for one minute that these guys are going to do a Chelsea or Man City and SPEND SPEND SPEND.
We need a manager who will get on with what he's got, not what he wants.
FFS I wish I was on holiday in Sardinia and was being offered £3m to walk away from a failure.
