I would have thought that seeing as Rafa has obviously pencilled in the Madrid job for himself at some point in his career, Mourinho going there now while they aren't that great and Barca are so dominant would have been his ideal scenario. The last thing he would need is following a manager who has been mega successful after all, the questions might be asked if he plummetted Madrid down to seventh in La Liga after six seasons of rebuilding.
Could it be that he is a bit wary that perhaps Mourinho will go in there and do a good job? Surely it's not possible for any manager to usurp Barcelona in their current pomp is it?
Rafa gets stranger and stranger as he gets older. Why is he comm enting on such matters, and how would the Liverpool fans react if Mourinho had said "Benitez isn't the right manager for Liverpool"? It beggars belief really.
Rafa Benitez has ONE bad season and comes 7th in the league admidst possibly the worst run board in the top tier and yet you either want to rewrite history, or want to omit his past achievements altogether? Short memory? Alzheimers setting in? F*ck knows.
Alternatively you could say hes had one GOOD season...?
Hardly. Rafa Benitez hasn't just managed LFC in his career, you know. One good season? You'd have to be a right clueless eejit to even state that.
