RAFA BENITEZ LEAVES LIVERPOOL - Official Thread, includes merged threads

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby RED BEERGOGGLES » Wed May 19, 2010 4:12 pm

I posted around 4am this morning that this thread  was slowly approaching a dead end ,and it seems that what has transpired since then, has only served to validate my earlier reservations ,maybe given the volatile nature of the thread it should be dispensed with until maybe pre season is upon us ,after all it is only conjecture and baseless arguments that are fuelling it at present ???

One thing is certain it is currently evolving into the most ridiculous thread I have ever had the misfortune to read ,both sides are never going to  give no quarter ,and sadly both sides view opposing opinions like it was tantamount to heresy ???

I honestly think the thread has run its course for the time being ,it shouldn't exist solely to score points of each other   ,just my personal opinion :( Maybe we could reintroduce it in the Advanced Debate section where it could begin to maybe evoke intelligent football debate again ......

his man management is poor, this lead to one one of our best players leaving.

He talks too much to the press about his own problems with the club...this is not the liverpool way.

other clubs have done better with less money

he has not won anything in 4 years

He has (or his agent has ) spoken to other clubs about getting jobs with them, this make me feel he is not committed to the club.

He has too much power on how the club is grown from the youth players up.

he has sold too many good players

he spent 20mil on a player that was not fit, the money was wasted and now he is saying he should be given more.

how about you back up why you think i am wrong by tell us why you think he should stay.....or this thread will just end up like the old one.

I've done that countless times, Lakes. I am not about to think a world class manager is below the likes of Harry Redknapp (as good a manager as he is) Sam Aladyce, Martin O'Neil et al because of one bad season. I am also blissfully aware that our club has been run by a bunch of clowns like a circus for the last 15 years at least, and we are now reaping what they have sown, and that isn't even counting the two massive b"stards we have owning us now. It will only get worse, and no f*cking manager under the Sun is going to change our situation unless this club is gutted from top to bottom at a boardroom level. I tell you how bad it is when you get supporters gurning over a manager letting go of such world class talent such as Bellamy, Crouch, Pennant and ageing players like Risse, Finnan, and big Sami, whom I wish he'd have kept but I'm now glad he didn't because going by this season, the gobsh*tes would have probably derided the good man's legacy like they are currently doing with a class act that is our current manager. This is my point: if we can't let go of players like Crouch, Keane, Bellamy, Pennant and not bring in world class players befitting a club as massive as Liverpool, who aer massive all over the globe and not just England, and lump down coupious amounts of money on the players we need, then what does that tell you for the state of us?

Let's see,

By all means make a point but accept that maybe we heard you the first time around, the fact that we haven't licked your a'rse with lots of bowdowns doesn't mean we didn't hear you.

Read it all before, again and again and again.

I think we all know your position Lakes.

And yeah, it's a new thread, perhaps you can put something "new" in it and not just cut and paste statements you've already made in a previous (now closed) thread.

Rafael Benitez wants four more years at Liverpool

Oliver Kay, Football Correspondent

Rafael Benitez has declared his intention to stay on as Liverpool manager for another four years, adding that he has “no evidence” that Fernando Torres is seeking a move away from Anfield.

Benitez’s future has been in serious doubt for several weeks as his agent has held talks with Juventus, leading Liverpool’s board to consider a change of manager. Some tensions remain between Benitez and the Merseyside club’s hierarchy, but, having seen Juventus appoint Luigi Del Neri, the Spaniard believes he will be staying at Anfield.

“My future is with Liverpool,” Benitez told reporters in Madrid. “I have four more years of contract and I want to succeed. I have no offer [from another club]. I hope to make a competitive team.

“My critics in London say that I am not a good manager and experts with an English accent here [in Madrid] say the same. But Liverpool has had an average of 69 points in the last 12 seasons. The club made a huge mistake, which was to start winning four trophies [under his management]. Then people will ask for more. [Sir Alex] Ferguson took seven years to win the Premier League.

Benitez played down suggestions that Torres wants to join a new club following Liverpool’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The Spain forward has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, but Benitez said: “I have no evidence that Torres wants to go. Right now he is focused on recovering from his injury, winning the World Cup and then he can think about his future. He has multiplied the image of Liverpool in Asia because he makes women crazy there.”

The Spaniard also defended his style of management after Albert Riera, the Liverpool and Spain winger, claimed that he did not talk to his players. “It is a lie that I don’t talk to the players,” he said. “He [Riera] made a mistake in an interview and I have witnesses and video of something that I will not count. ”

Tom Hicks and George Gillett put the club up for sale last month but the pair have so far failed to find buyers willing to meet their £500 million valuation. Martin Broughton was brought in as chairman to oversee a potential sale, but Benitez says he is yet to find out whether he will be able to reinvest money raised from players sales during the summer. "I have had a couple of meetings with the new (Broughton) to clarify the situation," Benitez said. "We need to know how much money we have, and that also depends on (player) sales."
