I am not expecting to win the premiership.
But i do expect us to challenge.
I dont expect our nearest rivals to be Everton and Villa and to be worryingly at times looking at Birminghams results.
I dont expect to get battered in a weakish champions league group, losing half of the games.
I dont expect to play Reading twice and be knocked out at home in the FA cup.
All these things add up.
You are using the fact that we havent as many 20 million pound players as an excuse to why we arent competing.
Well we have spent a sh!t load more than Birmingham and Everton over the years, yet they competed with us.
Spot on there, peeps can complain about H&G, lack of investment etc, etc, but even if we did not have the squad to win the title we should have at least been 4th, losing ground to Spurs, City, Villa and almost Everton and getting knocked out of the UCL and the FA cup by teams of Championship and mid table premier league standard is not on. Only one person to blame for this and thats the manager.

Point being very few Premiership sides have paid £16m+ for a player and we've done it several times and FOUR of our current squad cost that. And of course some of the teams with record fees of less than £10m beat us or drew with us, so the money excuse won't wash.
We spend more than Arsenal in terms of transfer fees, they finish higher and have a brilliant new stadium. Villa do spend some money on players, but their spending is not that excessive and had we beaten Hull on the last day we'd have finished above them.
And teams like Stoke and Brum finished mid-table, maybe a fair few points behind us, but their spending is token compared to Rafa's

There must be some mistake!
