How depressing, dreading next season   :(

no one can say there is money going to be at the club for any manager to spend, he might be asking for something he can not get, or they might just point to the 59 players he has taken to the club and say "are you say the ones you spent all the money on are no good"

in that case they have a fair point.

I just can't believe anyone really think that is the case.

So you are honestly saying the reason the board probably won't
spend a penny, even from sold players, would be Rafa's fault for his buying policy?

Not that we are skint or have owners that have shown their willingness to spend... not
Unbelievable how ignorant attitude :no

I am saying that there might not be much money to spend

tell me the trurh.

look at the 59 players he has taken to this club........right now think about this.

say he gets the ok to buy 3 players.........do you have the confidence that he will buy the 3 best players for that money.......you will be asking him to do something that he has not been able to do before.

so far he has a 1-10 in getting it right.
the chance that he gets the next 3 buys right is 1-10....thats not good.

First of all counting freebies and youth players is a bit over top but that isn't the real issue.

The fact is a manager has to be supported to move forward.
Sure, there has been mistakes, but he has shown he can make excellent buys also. We are in desperate need of strenghtening our squad and Rafa is right now the manager and he needs to be shown faith otherwise you can't move forward. Even if some are of the opinion other managers might do better is irrelevant. If a manager isn't supported then he is just a lame duck and the club will only go one way. And he will stay.

The truth is we are leaking money like never before, the owners are over their eyeballs in debt everywhere and hasn't got a pot to :censored: in. They are in selling mode and want to add absolutely zero to the club at this moment and no matter what the expense might be the answer from them is a big fat no.

Even in the likelyhood if Inter Milan would get Rafa there is a snowballs chance in **** a new manager will get anything as long as the current vermin steers the ship.
You can take that to the bank and I'll stake what little reputation I have on it.

no mate i am not, if you count youth players he has taken 103 players to the club.....i am being kind to him.

Is Rafas position now untenable?

I think his flirting with Juventus (and now possibly Inter) + his reluctance to meet with the Broughton suggest he is looking for a way out. Whether pushed or by "mutual consent"

So kill the man for keeping his options open as noone at the club can promise him jack ****.

When someone says "Rafa's plan is to nosedive the team into oblivion so that the following two seasons we can make slight improvement and then fans will be celebrating it as progress" you can only really reply by saying one thing..... CR@P! Which is basically what I said since there is no other reply really.

if its taken as being a serious comment then yes, absolute cráp. if its taken as blatant and cutting sarcasm, then not cráp. but all the same, don't you think there is an element of truth in there though? don't you think that if next season or the season after we are back 'up there' scrapping for fourth there will be some people putting it down as progress based on this season? its kind of true, isn't it?

I am not expecting to win the premiership.

But i do expect us to challenge.
I dont expect our nearest rivals to be Everton and Villa and to be worryingly at times looking at Birminghams results.
I dont expect to get battered in a weakish champions league group, losing half of the games.
I dont expect to play Reading twice and be knocked out at home in the FA cup.

All these things add up.

You are using the fact that we havent as many 20 million pound players as an excuse to why we arent competing.
Well we have spent a sh!t load more than Birmingham and Everton over the years, yet they competed with us.

Spot on there, peeps can complain about H&G, lack of investment etc, etc, but even if we did not have the squad to win the title we should have at least been 4th, losing ground to Spurs, City, Villa and almost Everton and getting knocked out of the UCL and the FA cup by teams of Championship and mid table premier league standard is not on. Only one person to blame for this and thats the manager.

I agree Andy, I used to really enjoy Micks tome's. Sadly when you get replies that consist of "how do you know that" and nothing more, it must be a little offputting to anyone who has made the effort to actually post their opinion.

Either that or it's the insults and abuse that any sort of original post attracts these days.

I used to really enjoy reading the Mick, Badbob and Bam debates, when they were averaging about 5 long posts per page but more interested in talking about football than scoring points off each other.

Point taken Andy and listened to, fair enough. Unfortunately though the site is practically devoid of football posts these days, and indeed football posters. Anyone taking the time and trouble to plough through the bile of the last five or six pages of this thread can see the reason why. It's a shame but there it is.
