Kenny has kept close ties with football and especially Liverpool during the 9 years he was out of football. He has been part of the Liverpool setup for the last year and has said he will do the job if asked..... thats good enough for me. He has won enough titles and cups to prove his ability, I see no reason to doubt him.
Mate Newcastle were still![]()
even when Keegan came back. How many wins did they even pick up under him during that spell?
It's a nice idea to think that Kenny could have a posative effect on us but what if it doesn't work out? Then we waste yet another year. I really thinkwe need to try and get someone proven in the modern game.
They were almost bottom of Division one when he took over as manager. He saved them from relegation in his first season, and won them promotion as Champions in his second season. His next season they finished 3rd in the prem.
Not really sure what you are on about Bav to be honest?

You seem more willing to place your faith in someone who has FAILED to win the league rather than someone who has proved he CAN win the league.

You have proven it by using keegan who won nothing while spending absolute millions trying and has failed as England manager then as city manager then second time as Newcastle manager . We all know that kenny won the league a number of times helped by a a fantastic bootroom at the time and the best coaches in the league at the time . The demands of football and being a manager in the prem has changed , if rafa is to go then we look forward and not backwards to the late 80s

Because he will have more money to spend. And because we are unlikely to get in a manager with as good a track record.

The demands are exactly the same ..... to win more games and obtain more points than anyone else.
Anything else is irrelevant.

But if we get money to spend we can attract a good manager.... can't we?

Yes we can but if we do get new owners who can helps us compete in the transfer Market with the rest then I would like to see what rafa can do being able to get all the players he wants without being restricted by funds .

Well clearly to go from where we are into being a really top side is going to require a certain amount of rebuilding. It's going to need shrewd aquisitions of players, as well as the man-management skills to mold them into a fighting unit, who can play above the sum of their resources.
I think Rafa's "track record" in terms of performing those tasks, is poor. He took over a Valencia team which had already reached the previous two seasons Champions League finals, and in an era where the big two in Spain were weak, he had good success. He took over at Liverpool and with the nucleus of his team made up of what was left behind, had some initial impact, most notably in the astounding triumph of Istanbul. Since then however, when HIS buys and equally importantly HIS sales have began to have an impact on the team, we have won nothing.
His record in the domestic cups is absolutely abysmal, his record in the League is one proper title challenge in six seasons (followed by a scrap for seventh), while his record in Europe is more more impressive it's not that great either IMHO.
I'd be looking for someone who has a track record of getting teams to outperform, of buying shrewdly. I can't for the life of me understand why people laugh at the likes of Martin O Neill and Roy Hodgson. They are both performing precisely the kind of role which we are going to need our manager to perform. They wouldn't be my choice, but they certainly aren't useless either.
"Track record"? Who's done the best job and the worse job out of those three this season?

And last time kenny had the best backroom staff around ! Do we get all those back as well ! The tactics , the pace , the way the game is played has all changed dramatically in the decade or so since he managed a team in the prem . It's a purely sentimentally choice and not a realistic choice . If rafa is to go then I would want a proven current manager , someone who is current and up with the modern game .

If you'd like to see what Rafa can do when he can buy "all the players he wants without being restricted by funds" you're supporting the wrong club. Infact you're in the wrong sport.
Even Man City can't buy "all the players" they want, and they aren't restricted by funds. It's cloud cuckoo land, and the sooner people get a grip on reality the sooner we can stop having these daft conersations on here. If the club was sold tomorrow and the new owners said "here you go Rafa lad, there's 200 million quid to buy whoever you want" he would buy some good players no doubt (so would we all). Would he though be able to put them together into a fighting unit which can win titles? Would he feck

Well seeing its you and in the interest of harmony I will allow you to have Mourinho then.
