I would rather Roy Hodgeson over Martin O'neill anyday :D

Still my preference would be Frank Rijkaard

Its like teh SG rumours they just come and go like the tide.  Rafa will be at Anfield next season. I hope. Maybe. Err....

i'm not sure that anyone on a 4 million pound a year contract is going to need to sell one house before moving and buying another one. we should instead be looking to see if any portly, goatee bearded spanish gentlemen have been checking out villas in the general milan region.

Ive been looking on a Juventus forum.

The word there is that on either May 9th or May 10th Rafa will make his official decision weather to leave Liverpool or join Juventus.

Sounds like he wants his cake and to eat it too. Holding the club to ransom rather than leaving with a little dignity? No doubt its because he loves Liverpool so much :)

His heart is with Liverpool thats for sure. Any other manager would have walked away by now. Rafa takes too much stick from the media too, he is too much of a nice guy.

I have many doubts over Rafa, man management, tactics, signings etc, but I don't doubt he has an affinity with this great club.

But you can easily get lost in love and lose sense of what is best for that love ie stick at a job you're doing badly thinking you can do better, not wanting to leave and knowing once you leave there is probably no return. Maybe in retrospect Kenny leaving when he did may have dumped us deep in doodoo, but maybe in the long run him staying would have seen a decline anyway.

Where do we go now? If Rafa survives the summer and is in charge next season, what is going to be the requirement? Back to square one and top four? Or mount a title challenge? How many years off another title challenge are we?!?!? He's had six seasons in which we've not achieved a lot more than we did under Houllier, is he to gain another 2-3 years with plenty of ready made excuses?!? He's already come out with the line that we need 4-5 players so clearly he's trying to buy himself at least another season.

Some will argue his position is impossible because of financial constraints, but what is the answer to that? Stick with someone who can't do the job or find someone who can under the same circumstances...............................? With the way Rafa spends money I'd say I'd be wary even if someone did give him £200m, not least because most other clubs 'see him coming' and if they see him coming with £200m in his pocket then they'll be asking £75m for Villa, £40m for Silva, £30m for Kenwyne Jones etc - and I can see him paying over the odds for players, it's not as if Keane £20.3m, Aquilani £20m, Dossena £7m, Cavalieri £3m and Johnson £17.5m were in the "bargain" category, some not even close. It annoys me to this day that we bought Keane and not Bent who is 3.5 years younger and better (or Defoe) I can understand Rafa not taking a risk on Modric when spudz were set to buy him, but not Defoe or Kranjcar?!? I'm not suggesting the man needs hindsight, but some of his choices beggar belief.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

So finally you are at least admitting there to be financial contraints on the manager?

A step forward...

And you are demanding someone who can win trophies under the circumstances Rafa has had to work with since Rafa can't win.

Let me tell you an eye-opener. THERE IS NOONE WHO WILL SUCCEED IN WINNING TROPHIES UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES!

It may annoy you that we bought Keane. What annoys me is that Rafa wasn't allowed to buy anyone for the money Keane was sold for. Or that almost nothing of the money reccouped from sales last summer was allowed to be spent on new players. We got 35-37 million right up front and paid maybe 5-6 of those on new players. It seems we paid Pompey jack **** as we owe them! money.

The landscape of the PL when Houllier was at LFC and now is like comparing apples and oranges.

At that time only Manure and :censored: was serious heavyweights in the league. City was relegation fodder, Chelski wasn't anything more than uefa cup material, spurs regular wasters and underachievers.

Now Chelski and City have spent hundreds of millions on their squads, Spurs have finally got their house in order and a half decent manager. And Manure and :censored: are also there.

And what are we doing? Trotting away at the same pace hoping for a miracle worker to make us winning with half the wage budget and little transfer chest, if any at all.

Rafa will leave in the summer and a host of players (including the likes of Babel, Riera, Benayoun, Degen, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos) quickly and ruthessly in an attempt to clear the decks of sh*t for new management.
