here here, hes spent his pocket money and its done no1 any favours,
torres, reina, masch and maybe aqua fair enough but for the other 60 odd its not been money wel spent.

That's a bit harsh mate. He brought in Reina, Xabi, Fernando, Mascherano, Agger and Johnson. All top signings imo. His failings in the transfer market are with low to mid range signings. If he was able to get his first choice targets it would be different. And anyway even if someone else came in that wouldn't mean anything unless the ownership situation takes a turn for the better.

Interesting read, more for the names and "where are they" than the inevitable circular debate of "net spends" and all that cobblers. Doesn't matter where the money came from, how many of the signings were worth it is the bottom line

Agreed interesting but not sure of its value.

If you looked at SAF´s last 76 signings or Wengers, the picture would inevitably be the same simply becuase there are only 11 players in the first team and if a lad is not going to break through, he gets moved on.

76 players though, jeez I bet the personnel department at Anfield are kept busy.

I think it's time for Rafa to go but I don't think we will turn things round quickly and the alternatives aren't that great, I think he's lost a bit of heart and probably wants put out of his misery  whilst getting as much money as possible.

He hasn't lost any heart. At the end of the day he had to work with what funds were given to him. You can't expect to buy a KFC Zinger tower burger meal if you only have enough for a dixy chicken burger and chips special. I really do feel sorry for Rafa and wouldn't be surprised if he walked with the :censored: he has had to put up with.

Surely he will be gone soon either voluntarily or removed by his employers. If he sees through the summer and survives into the next campaign I dont think we will ever have another manager at the club. We are that poor and he is so far past his sell by date at Liverpool its as though hes begging to be sacked.

To be fair to you Bav, I admire you standing by the man, and also by your own convictions. I also don't like to see a man being kicked while he is down...
That said though, you have to ask about the substitutions he makes. Last night for example - Degen ? WTF ?
Pacheco ? a 19 year old to save Rafa's bacon ?
El Zhar ? WTF ?

And then there are the other fiascos - Crouch, Keane, Bellamy, Alonso.....

I just don't know anymore

I agree Rafa has made some shoddy signings. His mid and low priced signings have been nothing short of a disaster and it shows as we have no strength in depth. I never said he was faultless but I still think backed properly he would bring the league home.

Sadly I don't think he will get that now.

If he had spent all 230Mil in the space of a year or 2 (like Chelsea did) then it would be different but that's not the case. His net spend each season is what 25Mil? If he wasn't having to always sell before he buys he might have been able to build up a squad (as oppose to first 11) with some quality.

Ill also add we should be playing with 2 strikers but that's just my preference. But to say he has wasted all that money is silly because you are just using the overall figure to skew opinions. If he was able to spend 15/20mil per player he would probably get someone decent. Instead he has to make do with unknowns and risk selling them a few seasons later to raise money for more risky players.

Any man that can offer El Zhar a 3year deal to 2012 deserves the sack on that alone. How fat did he look btw? hes aged 10 years since his last appearence. There is no defense of Benitez now.Using some of the twisted logic on here no one would ever lose their job and people would be contracted to clubs for life.No one would ever lose their jobs. Benitez has had a good crack at it overall despite the problems behind the scenes in the last 2 years at Liverpool. Almost 100 players in and out and some good times along the way but its going backwards now. The players look fed up with it, Benitez looks tired and I am sick of it to be honest. We are rubbish. Can we not just cut the cord and move on its stupid this now.
