I'm not happy with our defending at all and we concede far too may soft/sloppy goals. Just glad we have 2 strikers who can score for fun.

Take out the Toure mistake and we run out 1-0 or 2-0 winners. West Brom have always been a tough side for us, today was no difference. Unfortunately Toure managed to have a shocker and the game was taken away from us.

I'm as disappointed as anyone. Of course we weren't at our best as a team but that game was lost due to a single defensive mistake, nothing more.

Yes a single defensive mistake that's all... :help This goal was coming and you could spot it a thousand miles away. Surprised how accepting we become of such performances..Oh well There is Europa league standards for you.

We looked so comfortable in the first half that it actually became a problem. It seemed to breed an overconfidence, our passes got sloppier, chances were being missed and with no sign of any real urgency you just knew a fk up was on the cards if we didn't find a second goal soon.

Same old story I'm afraid , 2 steps forward then 1 step back

As has been said, the kind of result that come the end of the season could really cost us dear.  :(

Agreed. Nothing a win against Arsenal can't fix.

that was painful and again another 2 points thrown away. thought we were comfortable enough tbh and should have seen it out at 1.0 but then toure did THAT. hate to see us playing across our box like that and we shouldnt be so insistent on everything starting from the back all of the time.
we had no real urgency about us today and it showed.
really disapointed as we threw away 2 against villa and another 2 today and those points would have put us up there and practically shut the door on 4th

Exactly. I love how people are over-reacting every time we lose or draw. "Worse display in a red shirt", "painful to watch" etc. Well pass me the f*cking razor blade! These games are always very difficult for the top sides. WBA took points from every top 7 outfit this season expect from City (but gave them a hell of a match).

For a game that was always going to be very tight, our approach to it was obvious, play it simple, avoid mistakes and let the quality shine through. We did everything apart from the second part, we made a mistake, and an unforced one at that. So I'm not going to blame the entire team because of that junkie's f*ck up. Had Toure not done the mistake, we would be talking about how good Gerrard was in that DM role yet again and how good Sterling was on the wing etc. and not about how badly we played (because we didn't).

Hull City was a bad game and Aston Villa was a bad game. This was not. We should have won and I'm disappointed as anyone that we didn't, but we lost because of an individual mistake and that's that.

It wasnt great that yesterday but on a brighter note Spurs only drew and united got beat.

I said it after the villa draw but we shouldnt be playing Coutinho Sterling Sturridge and Suarez.
We had to against Everton and due to the intensity of the way we played and how hard the attacking players worked defensively it worked.
But that wont work most weeks, in games where it's a little bit flat and the opposing team have a dog like Yacob breaking things up with little niggly fouls.
Allen should have come back in and either Coutinho or Sturridge sub.
That would give the team more shape and allow us to control the midfield and the game better.
It would also give us a game changer on the bench if after 65-70 minutes things arent quite going to plan.
If we play that same team against Arsenal i really fear for us.
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

the toure mistake is always a possibility when the keeper insists on giving the ball to defenders who already have opposition players in close proximity

Correct and if i may add our CB's have no one to pass the ball to....How many times we saw Toure getting stuck with the ball desperately looking to pass it and no one made himself available ,so he either took it forward and lost it or huffed it and lost it...The huge disconnect between Defence and Midfield will escort us till the end of the year unfortunately.

if Toure had glanced to his left... Cissokho was stood on the touch line unmarked scratching his sack.

Mignolet has become a liability.

I'd love if Pepe came back from Napoli next season.

Eh? He had a stormer against West Brom.

I woudl take Reina back, and in fact I prefer Reina. But in no way would I classify Mignolet as a liability.

It's not the fact that he has been in poor form. He maybe had 2 decent saves against WBA, but he is beginning to do that flashy ***** where he tries to make things look harder than it is.

What it is is that we are a side who likes to involve all 11 players in our possession, something Mignolet is incapable of doing. Teams figured out quickly that if they pressure our back line and get the ball back to the keeper, they will get the ball 8 times out of 10 when he hoofs it up the field to all of our tiny attacking players. Pepe can play in the back like another defender very comfortably, and offers much more on the counter attack than Mignolet does. Pepe is better at coming out as well on set pieces.

Look, Mignolet started for us well, but I think it's become glaringly obvious that Pepe is a better keeper who fits our style perfectly, and Mignolet seems to be losing confidence as each game passes.
