Feckin ell, missed the game, I thought it was not going to show on tv. It was too late anyway.

Congrats Roy and team. Seems like Gerrard, our Captain Fantastic is back! He probably heard by criticism of him after the Bolton game...  :D

Any links to the highlights and goals?

Great performance by Gerrard.  Too bad he only gives us those once a month, if we're lucky.

just finished watching the 3 min highlights from youtube. Gerrard's 3rd goal was exquisite but credit must go to Lucas for nudging the ball off the Napoli player. That challenge on Ngog could have broken his leg... who was that??

BTW Lavezzi looks like a very good player with very good technical skill... reminds me of Tevez...

Napoli deserved the lead at HT and gave us the run around. Few bits and bobs for us but no control. Gerrard was the spark and we played at a higher tempo  which the Italians could not cope with. Plenty of drive and passion for a change and we genuinely looked like we wanted it and where enjoying our football. 3 in 15 mins and its a good night all round. Decent that and a good effort with what was a mix of youth and fringe players in the mid and up top.

My god, you lot aee harsh. Yes Napoli did well in the first half but they had prerty much a full strength team out, where as we had Spearing, Shelvey, Jovanich, Ngog. If we had played our first 11 this would have beenn all over after 45.

Well in Roy for having the balls to let some of the younger lads get a game and get some invaluable experience, like you said you would at the start of the season.

Gerrard was world class tonight, but there where plenty of good performances around the pitch.

Great result.  YNWA
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Great result.  Gerrard changed the game.  Nice to see Roy shown a lot more passion on the touchline.

Roy looked so chuffed when Gerrard put the 3rd in - inspirational substitution I'd say, needed to fire the game up and unleashed his killer weapon - bang.

But the funniest moment in the match award has to go to the comical genius that is the Napoli goalkeeper, when Gerrard scored and was off celebrating he was claiming he'd been fouled he had a pathetic limp around and got himself booked lol comical as fuk.

go here... http://kopthat.co.uk/?p=845818888 and watch the clip of Gerrards equaliser and watch him 26 seconds in - quality!

Liverpool Echo 5th Nov 2010
THE POLICE chief responsible for overseeing last night’s Liverpool FC v Napoli tie today hit out at a ticketing fiasco he blamed for allowing violence to erupt.

Hundreds of Italians turned up at Anfield with tickets for parts of the ground designated for Reds fans – apparently bought from tour operators, rather than touts.

Some were ejected from the stadium and others were turned away.

But police were unable to keep them away from the minority of LFC fans who, Chief Superintendent Dave Lewis said, were intent on causing violence.
Around 40 Napoli supporters, some armed with sticks and with leather belts wrapped tightly around their knuckles, attacked a group of hooded Liverpool youths after the match.

The major flashpoint came on Walton Lane – outside Everton FC’s Goodison Park.

Police vans, officers on horseback and on foot swooped to contain the chaos, eventually rounding up the Italians to stop them roaming the streets around Stanley Park.

The Walton Lane incident happened at around 11pm, shortly after the Italians with proper tickets were herded from Anfield to their coaches on Priory Road.

Chief Superintendent Lewis told the ECHO the fracas involved some of the 500 or so Italian fans who were not allowed into Anfield.

He said: “The fact that 500 were able to buy tickets was a concern to us. They bought them from what had been seen as reputable tour companies.

“Somebody, somewhere, was able to get tickets and put them on sale through these companies. We need to look further into that to see how that happened.

“These have been bought through travel packages, probably advertised on the internet. These were legitimate tickets. These weren’t forgeries.

“Because that group became detached, it’s probably some of those people that got into the trouble we saw at Walton Lane.”

Three arrests were made inside the ground and another four outside. Six of those in custody were English and one was Italian.

The manageress of the Sandon chose to close the pub at 9pm fearing disorder.

At Walton Lane witnesses reported seeing a large group of young Italian man, shouting “F*** Liverpool”, charge some Liverpool youths, one of who was heard to shout “get the bat!”.

A frightened witness said: “They’ve got their belts wrapped round their hands with the buckles hanging down ready to swing and get people.

“They look organised, with their faces covered and hoods up, like they’ve done this kind of thing before.”
The ECHO’S photographer was threatened not to take pictures of the erupting melee, and ordered to leave the scene so the fight could go ahead.

Smaller flashpoints were also reported earlier in the evening, particularly around half time.

Ch Sup Lewis added: “A minority of Liverpool supporters were intent on having an attack on the Napoli supporters. We had a large focus on Liverpool supporters who are known to us. They were seeking problems.

“If they had not been seeking problems, what disorder we did see would not have occurred.

“Napoli fans had not come looking for trouble. But as trouble started they were not ones to back away from it.”

Liverpool triumphed over Napoli 3-1 in the Europan League tie.

It was given an “increased risk” designation by Merseyside Police.

At the away tie in Southern Italy three Liverpool fans were stabbed by hardcore Neopolitan “Ultras” – Italian football fans with a reputation for violence towards opposition supporters.

Napoli had around 2,700 tickets allocated to them in Anfield last night, but reports suggested up to 4,000 more might travel to Merseyside in the hope of seeing the game.

Before the match, Napoli fans were thoroughly searched before being let through the turnstiles into the Anfield Road stand and a heavy police and steward presence ensured an initially good-natured atmosphere.

It seems its not just Italians who have tooled up hoodies in their ranks ....it also seems the Italians and the Ultras now know the feeling of being hunted ..... "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW " seems rather apt all things considered

Seriously serves them right.

Walked round the arkles before the game as i had been told it had been smashed up earlier by Napoli supporters.
I didnt see any damage though so not sure.
Seen an italian lad get battered before the game by the sandon by loads of little kids.

I dont usually like seeing stuff like that but they deserve it after sh!thouses attacking innocent fans the other week at their place.
