LIVERPOOL VS NAPOLI - 4 november 2010, ko: 20:05

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby maypaxvobiscum » Wed Nov 03, 2010 10:15 am

all the attention has fallen on the Chelsea match naturally.
but just in case some, like me, had forgotten, we've got a match against Napoli.

so...how would you guys do this? play the same team that started in Naples 2 weeks back or play the same team that started the last 2 games so the momentum won't be disturbed? i prefer the latter. the reserves can always come off the bench when/if the game is won.

Napoli will be our 11th opponent in Europe.

Roy has lost just 4 of his last 26 games in Europe.

Ngog is our top scorer in Europe i believe.

Marek Hamsik would be wanting to impress after making a comment about wishing to move to the Premier League some time in the future.

prediction: if the team remains unchanged, Liverpool 4:0 Napoli. would be interesting if Roy started Ngog up alongside Torres.

I'd keep the team unchanged except for the injured Cole obviously. Ngog is our top scorer in all competitions i do believe so I can see him playing a part somewhere in this game.

There will be changes.

Meanwhile, Hodgson is set to make changes against a team who sit fifth in Serie A - though perhaps not as many as for previous Europa League games.

Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger are all out, while Ryan Babel is still struggling with a knock to the ribs sustained in a reserve friendly against Huddersfield last week.

However, Glen Johnson could return after four matches on the sidelines with a muscle injury.

"We won't rest too many," the boss explained. "It's a home game and when you're playing these European games it's the travelling that's one of the worst aspects.

"You're away for three days and you're very concerned about the way the players will react, not just to the game but also the travelling.

"At home it's a slightly lesser problem but of course we need to look at the minutes people are playing and try to keep some sort of balance there.

"Of course there are international games coming up as well and some players might get a week without a game and others won't - so we have to take that into consideration.

"We'll have a strong team out on Thursday."

Id personally like a strong enough team with Shelvey and Pacheco included.

Napoli have got to fancy their chances, they were shocking in the first leg. If they lift their game we have a tussle on our hands. Regardless of Chelsea, we have to play the first team and try to kill the game with a quick goal or 2.

1-0 Reds.

i would put stevie on the left and jova on the right so they can both cut inside alla adam johnson style and maybe swap over during the match. Maybe roy should ring me up and get some good tips.

Prefer youngsters given their chance  with a cadre of vets to stiffen the team.

We need the win but Chelsea game is far more important

i think Roy wants to keep the momentum from the two wins and will field a strong team. I think (baring any injuries) that is the best way forward. There'll be no better way to go into the Chelsea match than off the back of a 3 win streak.
