Napoli V's Liverpool CL 07.09.22 KO @ 8pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby red till i die!! » Wed Sep 07, 2022 12:23 pm

First CL game of the season so hopefully we start better than the league. They are going well at the moment so will be looking for a result in front of their fans.

We have a few that returned to training so better options available tonight. Not sure if they will be fit to start but they should be available to come on if we need them to.

I'd go

Ali

Trent
Gomez
Virgil
Robbo

Fabinho
Thiago or Bobby just not Milner.
Elliot

Jota
Nunez
Salah.

Hopefully nick a win and keep a clean sheet.

Games against this mob always seem to end up cagey and pretty tight, be nice to beat them comfortably for a change.

Think I heard that we haven't scored a single goal in our last 3 visits to Napoli. It's a tough place to go and they are 2nd in Seria A. It's our toughest game first and we're stuttering along so I'd take a draw if it was offered now.

Team is

                         Ali.
    Trent    Gomez     Virgil    Robbo.

    Milner         fabinho      Thiago.

     Salah            Firmino      Diaz.

What was the point in signing that Arthur lad if we are still going to give Milner every minute possible.

I was looking forward to the game tonight.. but Milner starting has dampened my mood again. The Quicker Klopp realises it's not the same reliable Milner from 2/3 years ago the better we'll be going forward.

I might just get accused of stating the bleedin obvious !! THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY !!

Firminio starts in place of our record signing Nunez.Napoli may not be as skilled Milly starts and hopefully he will be somewhat more controlled than he was against Everton. We need to start playing as a team which hasn’t happened so far this season except for the Bournemouth game.

I think Klopp has a pretty good understanding of the capability of his players. But as he said yesterday, neither Thiago or Artur are ready for any meaningful minutes, so there isn't really an alternative.

Thankfully Milner is playing midfield rather than right back where he was so exposed, Millie can still put in some crunching tackles so hopefully that is it. As usual we need a clean sheet.

Get milner off. If this isn't proof that he is finished then I don't know what is.

What a joke this is. This is what happens when you start a 36 year old with no legs left. We're leaving gaps everywhere.
