LIVERPOOL VS MANCHESTER CITY - Premiership 21-11-09

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Owzat » Tue Nov 10, 2009 2:34 pm

Another "must win" game, not that we're doing very well with the "must win"s at the moment - DDLLWLLLL. We scored six against Hull but then just six in the next eight games before last night. Man City on the other hand have not lost any of their last eight games since losing in the 999th minute of stoppage time against their fierce rival mancs including five straight draws in the Premiership

RECENT HEAD TO HEADS

08/09 LIV 1-1 MNC
08/09 MNC 2-3 LIV
07/08 LIV 1-0 MNC
07/08 MNC 0-0 LIV
06/07 MNC 0-0 LIV
06/07 LIV 1-0 MNC

Not looking good for a goalfest, SEVEN of the last nine matches between the two sides have ended with a single goal or less in them ie 0-0 or 1-0.

Owzat you will know doubt remember the bad old days under Houllier when we all feared every game would be a disaster.  Rafa give us back a cockness and we once again began to expect to win matches.  from pre season I have been in fear mode and I have had 2 wrong results in the last 8 games.  I was wrong about the Mancs and I thought we get beat last night.  When teams go on runs of winning, they win games they should'nt. When you go on runs of losing you lose game you should'nt. I think City will be too strong and should win 2-1 or 3-1.  I hope I'm wrong.

One good thing is we have a chance to get players back from injury due to the international break. Hopefully we'll be able to play a stronger first team than we have done recently.

Hate to say it, but based on present form, City will probably get this 1-0.

Hopefully not, but the reality of the situation says otherwise.

Neither team can defend, if Torres plays both teams are good up top. Simple, 3-3 draw.

Well we have now lost Yossi an Riera to hamstring tears for about 3 months, so feck.knows whos gonna play , I myself would play Fabio if fit LM, him an Insua actualy done ok together last time they linked up. Maybe now with Yossi out it would be a good time for one of the kids to stamp there mark,

ILL TAKE US FOR A 1-0 WIN

Heard that Agger is injured again, though don't know how serious. He may be out as well. What a crazy season we're having.

I expect Aquilani to start his first game for us against Citeh and for us to win a high scoring game 4 -2. We really need to get a run of wins started and I can't see any reason why we shouldn't thrash citeh.  Both sides have problems defensively but with Carra and Agger at the back for us we should be ok.

What the phuck is it with the LFC fitness regime ? If it's not a groin strain, it's a hamstring, or back trouble....are the physios getting it so ar$eways that our lads are constantly up sh!t creek ?

Gosh...........I'm not really happy with the frequency of injuries in our squad especially with Riera last night.  He's been off the rader for weeks and then is thrown straight in to start??? Why wasn't he eased into the team like aquaman ?

Look at it this way, with the two week break. There is a very good chance that the following line up is possible -

                          Reina

Johnson     Carragher     Agger      Insua

            Mascherano     Aquilani

Kuyt                Gerrard              Babel

                   Torres/Ngog

If the physios do work some magic and at least Gerrard and Aquilani are fully fit, I would feel very confident.

The key for Rafa is to work hard on the defence, keep a clean sheet and we'll win.
