Liverpool Football Club - Games

I know we have a tough opening start to the season, first with Arsenal and Now away to City, but I reckon its probably the best time to play these as they are still a bunch of individuals and not a fully gelled team.

If I could take a draw before the game, I probably would. Then again, we do have the players to go their and win, but I wouldn't bet the house on it.

The key to winning this game imo, will be to ride out the possible early onslaught. If we go in level at half-time, I reckon its ours.

I see a 1-0 win for Liverpool if the Sun doesnt get in Reina's face  :D

Not having a pop at Reina, he's a rock. What I mean is as long as we get "A little bit of blooming Luck", hopefully we should be ok.

I agree with that. Despite the talent at their disposal they haven't exactly set the world alight yet, best to get at them now. Think we can sneak it but got a funny feeling it could end up 2-2.

I think its going to be a draw... tough match with many bad challenges and possibly a good few cards aswel.. 10 men both sides and a 1-1 draw.

No Aquilani, No Cole.. who plays attacking mid?

Hopefully not Gerrard else we might end up seing the midfield pair of death: Mascherano + Lucas :(

Think Roy might play a 4-4-2 for this match.

Completely depends on how Roy sets us up but Im optimistic about this one. If we close them down enough they will misplace passes and we can get in control of the game.

I dunno about the formation....we might play Maxi and play Kuyt in the AM role or push Gerrard up with Poulsen starting......either way you look, its not pretty.....

I got a feeling he may go 4-4-2, with Gerrard and Mascherano in the middle and Ngog and Torres up front.

An unlikely option but I would rather just stick Pacheco in the hole than have Mascherano and lucas in midfield.

With Cole missing it has made it a tad awkward.. a bit of juggerling to do.

I like that thinking, don't know if Roy is that adventurous.

I'll go 2-1 with Jova & Torres getting beautifully worked counter-attacking goals.

i really doubt that we'll go 4-4-2 away at man city and i think we're going to see the dreaded lucamaschaxis. i don't think we're going to get beaten either. anyone know any good bars for watching the footy in dortmund?

Looks like Agger is out and Insua hasn't got a squad number so it's between Aurelio, Kelly and Wilson for the leftback spot. With Cole out I can see Gerrard playing off Torres.

                              Reina

Johnson      Carragher      Kyrgiakos      Aurelio

                       Lucas      Mascherano

                Kuyt      Gerrard      Jovanovic

                             Torres

Subs: Ngog, Babel, Pacheco, Rodriguez, Poulsen, Kelly, Jones

I think we'll see the formation Eagle put up as well..  We'll need to press them higher up and give them less time on the ball throughout the game... Torres, Kuyt, Gerrard and Jovanovic all press well and should do a job defensively when asked... I dont see us creating much against them regardless of the players we pick so we might as well rely on a direct style ad try to get something on the counter..

They play 3 central midfielders who all contribute more defensively than they do going forward (DeJong-Barry-Y.toure) .. If we manage to stop them from dictating the play then we might have a good chance of sneaking a win... Wont be pretty though..

1-1 for me..
