[color=#FF0000]Actually I think the fella's got a point. It is after all the "Champions League" . I know that there's a lot of "small" counties out there who's champions would get their a'rse kicked by a reserve team from any of the major nations BUT Belgium despite all the coefficient malarkey have a good history in international football and deserve a bit more respect. I wouldn't have complained if Standard Liege had been put straight through to the group stages.

Guess if anything it just demonstrates that UEFA's Champions League is really more about money than football.

[color=#8D38C9]hmm but whats the point when the belgium or russian champion is weaker then the runner up or 3rd placed italian or english team? i think that they are trying to get the best teams available instead of being more interested in the revenue.

I can see the guys point as well! Its the C/L,they won their League were as we only came 4th.There are some very strange and unfair rules in football but in this particular instance(although i do empathise with the Belgians point) it benefits us to play weaker teams in qualifying,so i will take it!
At the end of the day its in their own hands...beat LFC over 2 legs and you are in the group stages of the C/L and in the money..but that wont happen!

[color=#FF0000]Then maybe it's about time they stopped calling it the champions league, and call it "The Best Teams Available League" ?

[color=#000000]If they'd drawn FC BATE Borisov, I don't reckon he'd have said that.

Probably not, but imo it doesn't make his point any less valid .

[color=#000000]Besides the coefficient system - which has been altered slightly for next season, I'm not sure there's a fairer way of deciding who gets a place.

Reina, Arbeloa, Dossena, Carragher, Agger, Alonso, Plessis, Benayoun, Kuyt, Keane, Torres.

Subs: Cavalieri, Hyypia, Gerrard, Voronin, Insua, El Zhar, Pennant.

Alonso starts so hopefully that means all the questions are now answered.
