Although I think we need a new gaffer, I am not anti-Rafa. Unfortunately Rafa has run out of ideas, a lot like Houllier. His transfer policy, even with limited funds, has failed.

All those who disagree should look at the current squad now compared to the one that won the 2006 FA Cup (essentially the same team that won the CL if not better). If you compare the players going out for those coming in -

D Out - Riise
D Out - Kromkamp
D Out - Hyypia
M Out - Hamann
M Out - Sissoko
M Out - Alonso
M Out - Kewell
M Out - Garcia
S Out - Baros
S Out - Morientes
S Out - Cisse
S Out - Crouch

D In - Aurelio
D In - Insua
D In - Johnson
D In - Agger
D In - Dossena
M In - Riera
M In - Mascherano
M In - Lucas
M In - Aquilani
S In - Kuyt
S In - Torres
S In - Keane
S In - Ngog

How many of these transfers were for the better? How many of them weakened the squad?

Not many, 4 max - Torres, Mascherano, Agger and Johnson

I'm not to sure myself after reading some of the pro Rafa posters on here.
Personally I count everyone who supports the club through the good and the bad times as a proper LFC fan
(whether they are actually lucky enough to be able to attend the games is not important)

As a fan (real or not) I want Rafa out and a new man in ASAP.
We can argue about past highs under Rafa all day long, and the CL & FA cup win a few years back were great achievements.
But I think its fair to say that the standard of football from an entertainment point of view for the majority of his 6 year reign has been poor.
He, and he alone has built this current side and their style of play, yet now he's saying he needs 5 multi million pound players to take the club forward! ffs does anyone really believe this nonesense?
Its impossible to defend some of his decision making both on and off the pitch.
Its very much all about Rafa and not whats best for the club in my opinion.
Great Manager or Great self obsessed Spin merchant?
After this long, its very much the latter for me.
Then again I may not be in the real fan category so my opinion wont be valid and Rafas has done an amazing job under the worst conditions ever to burden a manager in the history of the Prem!  :D

I agree totally with this, constant excuses, one after another, time he got on with it or get out

It's because you're both blinkered plonkers. :nod

Lando, your the one with the blinkers you Rafa loving head in the sand unrealistic plonker :veryangry

You only just realised that hes an unrealistic plonker?   :D

Only a plonker would be daft enough to support the biggest load of shyte EVER served up at Anfield in the name of football.
And to compound it he spins out every stupid excuse under the sun to justify the managers many short falls  :eyebrow

For a club that has 240m or so pumped into the team over six seasons, you should would expect a much better squad that we presently have.

You have to ask what Rafa has done with the money because I don't see it.  I wouldn't give him another penny.

Too many good players left and not enough came in.

Should have Kept Riise, Hamann, Sissoko, Alonso, Garcia and Crouch and never bought Ngog, Lucas, and Dossena.

Squad would have been pretty decent then ... Obviously we wouldn't have had money to spend without selling anyone but its nice to dream.

Riise is no improvement on what we have IMO, if I remember Riise's last season, he wasn't really up to scratch at all

Hamann is 36 now, 32/33 when we sold him?

Garcia and Benny are very similar - Benny is the better of the two

Sissoko couldnt pass the ball two yards, and we had Masch

I agree about Crouch and obviously Alonso

Dossena was poo

and while I'm at it, Morientes didnt cut it, Keane didn't, Hyypia was old (albeit class), Kewell was a crock, Baros was pants and Cisse was a bit of a twonk

Thats probably why ER posted smileys as a response n all
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

As the owners are trying to flog the club they will just hang on to Benitez rather than shell out the cash to get shut of him. Makes sense for them to do that and they just cant be arsed getting involved. At this point they dont care what happens on the management side so long as they dont have to put their hands in their pockets. As it looks like Benitez isnt wanted by another club (shock horror) and no one wants to buy our club then we are stuck with him for now so may as well just try and forget it and move on. Nothing we can do unfortunately. Problem is even if we where lucky enough to have Arab money pouring in there is not a single footballer we could buy that is more important than the managerial appointment. That job is the biggest and most vital at any football club. Get that wrong, or you dont nake the right choices at the right times you have had it, I dont care what money you give them to spend. Its my beleif that even with riches beyond our wildest dreams Benitez would still fail in his quest because under any circumstances he just hasnt got it and even the biggest transfer budget on earth wouldnt change that.

Sadly thats the truth of the matter.

The scary thing for me is that given another season Rafa will have us turned into bona fide cannon fodder for the top sides and an EL spot will be spun by him as a FANTASTIC achievement considering the intolerable conditions he has to work under
BUT he will continue because he loves the club and the fans so much   :no
The one person my money would be on to do a runner if next season flops is Rafa
He may not be the owner of the circus we have turned into
But he is definitely the ring master

The sooner we get shut the better
