Agree with you on that. The criticism of Rafa this season - from some quarters - has extended far beyond his management of the team. Now it's personal; "he's a nasty person/a meglomaniac who only cares about money" etc. I think the extremely poor showing on the pitch and the anger that has accompanied it feeds those sorts of accusations and I don't see that it adds anything to the forum.

Anyway I think that just about finishes my contribution to the Rafa thread.(at least for the time being) I would like to finish by saying that just because I BELIEVE THERE ARE BETTER MANAGERS OUT THERE DOES NOT MEAN I HATE RAFA, it just means I think we could do better.

What is a 'REAL' fan?
I'm not to sure myself after reading some of the pro Rafa posters on here.
Personally I count everyone who supports the club through the good and the bad times as a proper LFC fan
(whether they are actually lucky enough to be able to attend the games is not important)

As a fan (real or not) I want Rafa out and a new man in ASAP.
We can argue about past highs under Rafa all day long, and the CL & FA cup win a few years back were great achievements.
But I think its fair to say that the standard of football from an entertainment point of view for the majority of his 6 year reign has been poor.
He, and he alone has built this current side and their style of play, yet now he's saying he needs 5 multi million pound players to take the club forward! ffs does anyone really believe this nonesense?
Its impossible to defend some of his decision making both on and off the pitch.
Its very much all about Rafa and not whats best for the club in my opinion.

After this long, its very much the latter for me.
Then again I may not be in the real fan category so my opinion wont be valid and Rafas has done an amazing job under the worst conditions ever to burden a manager in the history of the Prem!

Why would you think he is a "nice guy" when he falls out with everyone that says no to him, and anyone that criticises him too!

I think most would do the same thing if they were expected to challenge for the league with the budget we have had each summer.

No he doesn't, he just demanded more money than we could afford, but unfortunately for him we are now in such massive debt that he has been forced to try to manage without money and has failed miserably.

Actually all he asked for was the usual 25Mil he got each summer plus whatever he made back from sales. Not really a lot is it considering Utd spent 30Mil on 1 player. At the end of the day the owners said yes to him when negotiating his contract and they didn't deliver their end. He is entitled to feel aggrieved.

Then signs a contract that gives him a fortune within 48 hours of leaving. (presumably he only put that bit in because he loves us so much  )

In todays game that is normal. Any manager at the top level has compensation written into his contract. Would you really imagine he would have singed his contract with out any personal protection?

Please even Houllier got 12mil when he left.

I don't hate Rafa and I am not blind to what the owners have done, BUT I am also not blind to what Rafa has failed to do either.

Right but we are in the situation where we need new players. We wont get new players unless we get more money. We won't get more money unless we get new owners. Current manager or otherwise that situation does not change, and if you think the current squad is good enough then why are some of our best players saying we need better players?  Rafa has made mistakes but to focus on him so much is out of order.

It seems our top players want to leave BECAUSE of Rafa, and like many that support Rafa your expectations have become so limited that you really believe we would struggle to find a top new manager.

my mate was over last night and he said we are well in to the silly stage of the press year.

he is still sure that Rafa will go and that we have a big problem trying to keep torres.

Still don't no if he's going or staying meself . Part of me wants him to go for his own sanity ,but i really want him to stay to set the record straight with his detractors . All depends though on what budget or players he's got (or any other manager come to think of it ) going into a new season . If the owner situation is sorted ( i know i know ) i really can't see them wanting to keep him  Fresh start ,clean slate and all that stuff . If we've still got the same owners it's obvous they can't afford to sack Rafa ,so they 'll have to hope he resigns or keep him and see what happens. I really don't expect much better next season whoever the manager is , aslong as we keep these owners.

rafa shud leave...! his tactics are becoming way too predictable, i have rarely seen him play an aggressive formation,his mentality is just way too defensive and last but not least...he has too much faith in players like lucas! and yeah most of his transfers in his 5 year tenure have been major flops(josemi,babel,dossena may be even aqua)

But was he given it all in 1 go? Or in chunks of 100Mil? No he was given in it dribs and drabs meaning we could never afford to buy 2 20Mil players in 1 transfer window. You all keep looking at the total amount but what has his net spend been on average each season?

soory mate but it just dont stand up, he has taken 59 to 77 players to this club, if he wanted to buy better players then he should have taken less and picked better players to buy.

In my own view at the end of the day it comes down to who is bigger Rafa or Liverpool FC. I THINK it is clear that Torres and SG can no longer work with Rafa and if he stays they will go, Rafa will spin this to say that if he stays he did not sell them and it was the club that sold them due to the debt.

Rafa is holding a gun at the clubs head.
