Cant see anything more than loans for January. We are short of a defensive midfielder and a striker (need another with Suarez and Bellamy)

Anelka has been suggested (4m fee).. i think we are looking at short term signings.

The bigger issue is how long does Kenny persist with player(s) who aren't working and when does he offload. This season is close to being a write off (two Manchester clubs are out of sight, Spurs 10 pts clear if win game in hand vs Everton, and both Chelsea/Arsenal will be formidable).. so i think 4th is a long shot. We must soon be focusing on next season which is make or break for Kenny. The Carroll issue is one he must act on.

We need to buy in January if we are to have any chance of making the top 4. I think we are 1-2 players away from being a very good side but we need to add in a few areas of the park.

Central defence -

Alex? why not. He has always looked solid enough and wouldn't cost too much
Gary Cahill? but he would be costly
Chris Samba - if fit in Jan?
Collicinni - has come on leaps and bounds this season

Centre Midfield

Chieke Tiote but doubt Newcastle will sell
Mascherano - putting it out there but probably highly unlikely

Not sure we need to add to the frontline to be honest. We have plenty of options and, if we keep creating chances like we are, I think it's only a matter of time before the frontline click into gear!! That being said if Suarez gets in trouble for the racist/middle finger stuff then he may find himself suspended for a while and if that happened we would absolutely need a replacement!!

We don't need anyone in January. We need our current players to start performing Like we know they can.

We can't buy anyone when the current squad isn't being given game time like the likes of kuyt and maxi. I think we are all agreed the only thing missing from our game is goals well last years top scorer isn't being played often so what do we expect. Maxi who scored 2 in 2 against Chelsea isn't being played. We still hopefully will have Gerrard to come into the team who will add goals. Not everything is fixed by transfers

One thing is sure with Suarez's pending ban, Carroll will get more starts regardless of whether he deserves it. Let's hope this less than ideal situation kicks him into gear.
