Thought he had another good game.  Would still like to see him get 90 mins at centre back.

Top defender in the making. He isn't the brightest on the ball, but he keeps steady and doesn't usually resort to long balls, instead he plays it short. He reminds me of carragher for his last ditch tackling, marking and aggressiveness.  He has good positional sense and he is excellent in the air. Even though Uthrect aren't a physical side, he shrugged their players off with ease.

I think we should shift him to center back, maybe a better player there and definitely better than the overrated Skrtel.

Fantastic again today, looks comfortable on the ball and isn't afraid to get forward.

Anyone on here want Johnston back?

Great to see a young lad put in such a good performance in such a big game. Would like to see how does at centre back as it his preferred and probably more natural position.

He oozes confidence and quality and never looks fazed, even when Anderson was having some sort of epileptic fit with those stepovers.

He can also mix it a bit, and his size and height helps at corners etc.

This just emphasises the need to play Johnson RM, and leave Kelly in there.

I know it's early but......

We have a good crop coming through....

Kelly, Shelvey, Wilson (bought I know), Pacheco, Ecclestone, Ince, Suso, Amoo.  It looks like Kenny isn't scared to put them in too.

For Blackpool away I would go with

               Reina

Kelly   Agger  Skrtel  Aurelio

Johnson  Mereiles  Lucas  Maxi

          Kuyt   Torres

I have said this earlier in the match thread ,but for a Kid of 20 to deliver such an assured  performance against possibly the finest winger the premiership has ever seen (albeit his advancing years) ,and then at times to virtually shackle and outmanoeuvre a livewire like Hernandez  ....then Kelly's performance earlier can only be described as outstanding .....he has a massive future at this club and I think he will be difficult to budge when the hapless Johnson is again available ...........

I thought the kid was excellent today as well.  Every time I've seen him play he's always showed a poise that belies his tender years.  He's the real deal, IMO.

he looks good so far and he should make himself a fixture in the squad, whether he will be a star or not im not so sure of but looks very competent at right and centre back.

Best of the bunch today IMO, ready to rock I think. Good time to stake his claim as well with Jonno missing today. Time to do the deed, make Johnson right wing and Kelly right back. That way Johnson can concentrate on doing what he does best
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Not sure Johnson would wanna risk his England spot by playing out of his preferred position.  That said, it won't be his spot for much longer unless he bucks his ideas up.

has the potential to be a top defender. Needs to fine tune his technical aspects.

His defensive abilities for such an age is excellent and he is quite big!
