Definite future captain imo. The more games he gets the more his confidence builds.

Was very surprised at how quick he was yesterday and he put in a decent cross or 2. Looks like he. An pi k a pass out as well.

Johnson & kelly on the right would sew up that side for me, johnson providing help with backtracking like kuyt does, but offering so much more in offence than kuyt does.

Dunno how he or kenny feel about him playing right wing, but if he has seen Bale's transformation into such a star, then its gotta be something for him to aim for

I know its Kenny and i dont want 2 ruin the feelgood factor but i would start 2 think "here we go again, sticking to the same old :censored: that doesnt work".

I really hope we see Kelly and Johnson together on the right side of our team.

Its a good point but we do not see what Rafa, roy and now kenny sees on the training field.

At the moment the team needs some balance of a different kind in my opinion, yes we can all shout for kelly as a right back and Johnson in front of him, but at the same time Kuyt brings other attributes to the table.

He is a model pro, and if he were from the city would be held right up there with Carra. He is a leader and no matter what the team is doing, he strives to play to his best giving 100%.

Also Martin is supposed to be a natural central defender. I would like to see him in there with Agger to see what he can do....

This will all take time, i am convinced we have the right mindset at the club now and a positive outlook. Rome was not built in a day but i am confident that the players we have now are behind Kenny and we will see improvement. This will be gradual however.

Lots of positives from the lad.. But need to build more strength.. Seen him being outmuscled by Anichebe a few times during the derby..

if only Rafa saw what KD saw in Kelly, we would have saved 18m and Kelly wouldnt had wasted 2 yrs playing in the reserve....

Anichabe is a big guy, i think alot of defenders will struggle to out muscle him!

I thought he was excellent when he got his debut against Lyon in the CL. I just thought he'd fall by the wayside like all the rest of our youth products but i'm glad he's come good. Hopefully he'll continue this form. He can't play good every game but he looks like a real prospect for us. Not so sure about Spearo though..

That's a really good shout actually, Kelly would easily become better than Skrtel and Wilson could be just as good if not better than Agger.

I think Wisdoms gonna be better then the both of them. So personally id stick with him at RB and play Wisdom and Wilson as a partnership for the future providing we dont buy anyone else and try get Santon, Cissokho or Coentrao for LB. I wouldnt rule out Ayala or Coady either

for me -with Martin Kelly it's simple,if it ain't broke don't fix it. keep him at RB & let johnson fecking sweat! make johnson fight for his place & if he ain't up to it ship him out! MK has to stay in the side by his alround attitude & performances he's produced end of.

he's taken his opportunity with both hands & i'm fecking made up for him,his parents must be so proud of him being a local lad an all that.

Not only a very good (better than GJ) defender but he is rapid and is proving to be a very decent outlet down the right. However he is a CB apparently so perhaps he should move inside alongside Agger, we move GJ back to RB and then buy a new LB.

think he is from Bolton mate but agree totally about him staying in the side.
He looks like he could stay there for years and gets better with every game.
I wouldnt move him into the centre yet.
We do need Skrtel out of the side pronto but Kelly is playing well where he is and his energy and pace down the right is very useful.
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

Defensively, he's proven to be a very solid player indeed... He's got pace and knows when to put a tackle in ..
Going forward however, he's simply not good enough yet...

He's young and improving and all that, but i think if we had a better left wingback then Johnson would have kept him out of the side and rightly so..

If we are to keep playing this formation then im sure Kenny would be expecting much from Kelly offensively especially against the smaller sides. His touch has let him down quite a few times and his final ball is still lacking.. Hopefully all the match experience and confidence that comes with improve him as a player ...

He's reminds me of a larger version of Steve Finnan. Infact I'd probably say that Gerrard apart, he's the best crosser of a ball we have. As ace says, he is better defensively than going forward at the moment but that's to be expected as he's a centre back by trade and he's still only 20 years old.

He's from Whiston! Ten minutes away from Liverpool.
