Top ten rafa buys

I'm honestly miffed as to why some have put Aurelio in their top ten. If he is in your top ten, IMHO you don't hold Rafa's buys in high regard.

I go for him because of his fee - getting him for nothing and the impact he has had when he has played .

They also don't mention the Torres add ons mate, but I have posted them here about 5 times now.

Kop giants must pay Atletico Madrid an extra £150,000 for every 15 goals the Spanish striker gets.
His former club Atletico Madrid negotiated the unique clause in his contract on top of the £21million fee when he moved to Merseyside last summer.
Torres, 23, has already grabbed 18 goals in all competitions to trigger one bonus payment to Atletico.
Torres said: "I'm keeping everyone happy! Liverpool get the goals and Atletico get the money.
"I honestly did not think I would score as many goals as I have so soon. But things have gone well for me.
"Now I just want them to go better for the team in general so we can win the league or a cup to reward everyone's hard work."

So we'll have paid a minimum of 15 million Euro's by the end of the season for aquilani then.

As for "freebies", it's worth remembering these blokes don't play for free. Somebody posted up Deggens contact for example, and he's reputedly on 38K per week which is about 2 million quid a year. Plus he'll have got a signing on fee and will be on a three or four year deal. It'll be the best part of 8 million quid once you wiegh it up. Good value? You decide.

3)Benayoun
4)Kuyt
5)Reina
6)Mascherano
7)Garcia
8)Johnson
9)Agger
10)Fabio Aurelio/Insua

We are yet to see Aquilani, I hope he'll be good enough to put him in the top 5.

I'll bet that those installment payments next summer will be used as an argument as to why there is no transfer money in the same way wage increases was part of this past summer´s transfer budget.

Well as long as we don't have to do what the Mancs and Arsenal had to do in the last Summer period we'll be OK. The Mancs had to sell the reigning world player of the year for 80 million quid, and had to let go one of the best strikers in the league (who was worth around 25 million quid) on a free. To replace them, they bought a bloke off Wigan for 18 million quid and a bloke of Newcastle on a free who we didn't want. A few weeks back there was universal agreement on here that the Wigan bloke was "a joke of a player" but I haven't seen him mentioned so much recently. Probably the same people who said Drogba was a "waste of space" and that his manager at Chelsea was a "mug" for signing him. Anyway, I make it that they made 62 million quid profit in the transfer market last Summer. For sure they aren't as good a team as they were before the transactions, but they are right up there in the league, won their Champions League Group, in the semi finals of the Carling Cup etc etc so it didn't damage them too much.

Arsenal had to sell their best striker for 25 million quid, and their best defender for 12 mill'. They did buy a bloke to play centre half for 10 mill though, so they only made 27 million quid profit. Bizarrely, they actually look stronger than last season, are up there in the league, won their Champions League group etc. They did though go out of the Carling Cup in the next round after they put us out.

God only knows how we would fare if the owners told Rafa that they wanted him to make 62 million quid profit in the Summer. It doesn't even bare thinking about.

thats because they were still good enough to win 3-1 with a certain Judas scoring all 3
