if he goes to Juve then it will be the best for all concered. Rafa goes of his own free will and we save 20+ million in paying him and his backroom staff off.

I don't know what the best option is, even though I've more often than not called for his head. There's a 5-year plan to sign and develop youngsters underway. If Rafa and all his lot go, that goes down the pan. There have been a number of signings at that level and surely SOME of them will be good enough to make it into the first team...and it's long overdue....I just feel sacking him would send the wrong message to those youngsters.
If he were to walk of his own accord, I can't see how any future club owner could trust him, if he's likely to institute an Academy - or another way, to focus on it, and to espouse the virtue of such a thing as part of your 5-year contract negotiation - and then walk away only 1 year into that contract. If I were the boss of Juve, that's the first thing I'd think of - I wouldn't be able to trust a man who can't/won't keep his word...

Rafa has been here 6 years and he has bought loads of young players, how many have come through to the first team? Insua only made it because of the dreadful signing of Dossena and the injuries to Aurelio...... and most don't think he's good enough anyway. I don't honestly think our academy and reserves will suffer too much mate.

I would start a thread on it but the wrist slashers would be out in earnest if I did, but it might be worth considering who amongst the players would be winners and losers should Rafa go. It's hard toimagine Lucas featuring as regularly for instance, while equally it's hard to believe someone like Babel or even Aquilani wouldn't think they had a better chance with someone else in charge.

As for the youngsters, I doubt too many of them would conclude their chances of getting a shot had diminished if Rafa moved on. That said, I buy into the idea less than most that chucking youngsters into the fray left right and centre is always such a good idea. I do wonder though about kids like Pacheco, or Ayala. If they are ever going to be good enough, there have been opportunites which haven't been taken to give them a run.

but we all know the media talk sh!te and he'll be here next season.

Mate, I expect he'll be here at the start of next season as well....But if he isn't, and if wherever he goes he takes Torres with him, I will personally hunt him down, and shoot him with balls of his own shyte !

Mate, I was thinking of the players currently at U-18 and Reserve level....not Kelly, Insua or others like Pacheco who *have* made the odd first team appearance....
There are players like Ngoo, LDV, Ayala etc. who allegedly have a load of promise...and others signed in the past year (one who looks suspiciously like Ronaldinho !) who are supposedly the mutt's nuts...

Insua is young but he has potential. There are also a few other potential fringe players who are surely close... Nemeth, Pacheco, Kelly...

Bear in mind it took Fergie 5 years just to produce Ryan Giggs, the others didn't come through till after ...

I think given the resources he has had Rafa has done ok. Not to mention we have missed out on up and coming young players due to not being able to compete with other teams eg Jack Wilshire.

Thinkin about it we need a breath of fresh air. Rafa's probably taken us as far as he can and if he decides to step back than all the best

Rumours are afloat about Torres, Rafa and I just heard one about Gerrard and his missus. We're in for a looooooooooong summer
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

You know it's the end of the season when SSN start spouting the inevetable "Fernando Torres set to exit Liverpool" and "Stephen Gerrard has a bust up and is set to follow" kind of sh*te. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I suppose they have to make up something to earn a living.  Maybe one day they'll get one of these mad accusations correct.

You know, for once I'd just love a player to come out in a press conference and just tell them all to f*ck off! No facts rant or anything. Just a big f*ck off! and get up and walk out.

Yeh that b0llocks, there's nothing up on here about is so I don't think it's anything to get particularly worried about......yet  :D

Hopefully its a load of bull, but its just more sh!te for the press to play with isnt it?

I dont think Torres will go to another English club, I cant see it so I'm happy to just discard the City rumours....for now at least

The Press (bless 'em) not content in expending most of their time and effort pointlessly lauding the fortunes of the National side - Ingerlund - this summer in South Africa. And how green and ancient our mountains truly are. Of how we will 'fight them on the beaches, the landing pads - and in the backstreets after a dozen Stella's'  - All that guff....

when in reality?

re: (a Month long jolly-up with all expenses covered, loads of back slapping, grotesque 'swinging' parties with women who apply their make-up with a trowel and who stink of lavender/lily of the valley...and pi55.  Plenty of nudge-nudge-winky-wanky 'ing' in the spirit of 'good old blighty' - hurrah!

Not to mention the surreptitious transit of many a brown envelope added to a fair amount of clandestine midnight 'jiggery-pokery' akin to a game of 'spin-the-bottle' regarding 'who can make up the most bullsh1t newsworthy piece in 5 minutes' about...well, anything really. Don't matter, as long as its attempting to decimate some poor sod's career)

They will always make time for a spot of LFC, and in particular, Rafa Benitez bashing. Don't you fret.

...its in their remit.  :glare:
