Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I read the thread title and couldnt be @rsed to read the opening post. Let me guess, anti Rafa drivel rather than a discussion of the interview?

WAIT WAIT WAIT..... Are there still some who actually listen to Rafa post match???

Stupid stupid people. Rafa has maybe 5 phrases that he rhymes off everytime... his favourite... "we were controlling the game"... after we've spent 90 minutes gettin our asses tanned.

Rafa is robotic, same facial expression, same soundbites, the only time that changed was when he got out a piece of paper and started talking about "Fachts"

On the sideline he doesnt celebrate goals, he doesnt mingle with players, hes a distant, oddball weirdo who you would be pretty naive to expect any groundbreaking insightful comments from.

Every single new player "has a good mentality and character"
"Its not just any other club" C.Tyldsley
"Liverpool are a special institution" X.Alonso
"Anfield es un templo de fútbol" AS
"The English club prove miracles do exist" D.Maradona
"Theres not one club in the world so united with its fans. Liverpool fans sent shivers down my spine" J.Cruyff

Can't think which programme it was, but someone in the media/TV/radio pointed out Houllier became repetitive and more desperate as he realised he was losing it. I feel a bit of sympathy for him in terms of having to give an interview and what could he say?!?! It's lambs to the slaughter, just a chance for people to analyse his comments to death and put a spin on them.

Its a performing media circus, Rafa doesnt like it and its written all over his face and evidenced by his worthless comments.

Its like when the wife starts talking and theres something good on telly.

The man is a spoofer!

What can he say now - "yeah, I'm krap manager and spent the last five years building a team that is just higher than Birmingham and spent loads of money doing it"?

I didnt realise Rafa played centreforward and was expected to net 30 times a season as well as dominate midfield, play alongside Carra and save last minute penalties. He probably passes round the oranges at half time as well.

If thats the case then you're right, he's clearly overweight and not upto it!

Reg mate you know im on the Rafa love train, yes i blame the players but im sorry last night was down to Rafa he could of changed it mate it was so negative it was boring first time this season ive been at the match were everyone is looking at each other and you know there thinking wtf, one sub whats that. Sorry but last night was down to Rafa,
Im still on the train though  might be getting shunted at the mo but im still in me seat :;):

Why are you on "the train"

Is it blind loyalty or do you believe that Rafa is building something great?

As long as you don't choke on your food ,I mean who else could we rely on to compose such riveting threads .
I know.... lets see if Harry will lend Rafa The Big Bob Monkhouse book of jokes, maybe he can use a few gems out of that  ???

I dont think people are expecting him to come out and slate the players or heap praise on the opposition, just a bit of honesty.
Rather than the usual we controlled the game - when we clearly didnt comments.

Here is what he said from the official site:-

"If you analyse our position in the table, then maybe (it was two points dropped)," he said. "If you analyse the game then it was fair enough. In the first half we were in control. We didn't create clear chances and the final pass in the final third was the difference.

"In the second half they were pushing harder and we had to defend, but we still had some good counter attacks. Again the final pass was the difference. If you analyse the game, then the result is fair.

"To have a clean sheet is good and another positive after the last four or five games.

"We went close but you have to score if you want to win. In the first-half they had one chance on the counter attack. We had two or three situations around the box. In the first minute we had a very good opportunity, but credit to them because they were pushing very, very hard."

"We know that Steve is a key player for us and clearly he has to work on his match fitness because you can see the difference when he is fully fit," he said.

"Maxi was good in possession. He played the 90 minutes and could see the difference between the Spanish league and this one."

He added: "We have been missing Gerrard, Torres, Johnson, Yossi and Agger - they have all been good players this year and we have missed them. If Gerrard has the match fitness needed, he can train properly in the week, play games and make the difference."

Asked why Alberto Aquilani was an unused substitute after starting in the win over Spurs, Benitez added: "The team was doing well. Today the decision was to play Gerrard or him. Gerrard has the power and can go forward and change games. He can support the striker in a different way.

"During the game it was very physical and the ball was always in the air. It would have been difficult to bring on a player for 15-20 minutes and keep the ball on the ground. We preferred to continue with the players we had because we were defending well and were a threat on the counter attack."

With the January transfer window set to close next Monday, the boss was also quizzed about any potential targets.

He said: "There is not too much time. We are working and analysing things but it is not easy. In the market there are not too many players available and if there are, they are expensive. At this moment, we are continuing to work and we will see."
