RYAN BABEL to join Hoffenheim

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Dazzer » Sat Nov 07, 2009 5:50 pm

I have always thought Babel has tallent and I think his goal shows what he can do if played more central the lad has skills to suite that area of the pitch.I really think this is a player lacking in confidence he needs a bit of luck imo just a run of games to get his form up to par.He needs his manager (Rafa) to show he has faith in him and give him a few starts up front because I think he is a great finisher and is good in the air.I really think he offors more then ngog and I think if he could get 5 games in row we would start to see that.Torres is dead in the water atm with his problems and needs a rest I say give Babel a go we really can't play much worse atm.

The Babel discussion is well over and done in my opinion - the lad no matter how beutifull his goal was ,has exhuasted his chances with a Liverpool shirt - he is one of those talents that isn't cut for top clubs ,he has no football smart and understanding of the game...Just another proof of Rafa's stubborness and poor player selection..

I don't think babel can play as a stiker because he can't play with his back facing the goal. He also can't challenge for headers with the opposing defenders. I have never seen anyone hit "airball" headers as much as babel....  :p

Benitez should just give Babel a run of games on the right wing (er....right forward). He has nothing to lose. We really do need more pacy players in the team so that when we eventually counter-attack, the oppostion will be under tremendous pressure.

The current RW we have ain't cutting it. In fact.....he hasn't at all played well this season. Maybe Kuyt just needs more time on bench to get his focus back on. So until then babel has to play right winger/forward.

But does benitez has the "COHANAS" to drop Kuyt  ???

Is Babel truly unsuited to Liverpool or does Benitez not know how to use him, thats my question?

Its frustrating because you watch Babel play for Holland and you can see such potential for him in Liverpool. Imagine for a moment if Torres & Babel could link up front and develop & strike partnership, the pace would be scary.

A lot of people say spend more money to fix that problem, I would give Babel a good straight run of games up front & if he fails like Keane to fit in then get rid of him.

Hansen seems to think its babel time....But will benitez show patience to babel like he showed to Kuyt, Garcia & Moritentes ?

http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N166459091113-1106.htm

Alan Hansen has called on Ryan Babel to make the most of our injury troubles and stake a claim for a regular spot in Liverpool's starting XI.
The former Reds defender was impressed with Babel's wondergoal in Lyon, but believes the Dutch international needs to show some consistency.

Hansen told LFC Weekly magazine: "Babel has got all the talent in the world. He's got the pace, the strength and the feet to be a top, top player, but he needs to make use of those attributes on a more consistent basis."

Recent injuries to Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera may see Babel enjoy more first-team action in the coming weeks and Hansen feels the winger does have the ability to become a major force for the Reds.

"I have to cite the fact that he's only 22 - it's not as if he's 26," Hansen added.

"As far as talent and ability are concerned, Babel should be a regular in the Liverpool side because we need a player with qualities on the flanks.

"That will not happen, though, unless Ryan performs to the best of his ability, and contributes more goals like his wonder-strike against Lyon on a more consistent basis."

I've always thought Babel needs a run in the team and he will surely get that chance now. In fairness though the chances he has been given have proved fruitless on evey occassion bar the Lyon wonder strike! Even then he had a further chance which he managed to drag well wide when he should have at least made the keeper make a save. Confidence is what he needs imo and a few good games might just unravel his potential.

I'd play Kuyt on the left and Babel on the right.

Kuyt is never going to beat a man on the wing, he has to cut in no matter what side he is on.

Babel plays far better on the right or in the middle where he seems comfortable, sticking him on the left does him no favours.

Now is as good as time as any for him to step up. With Fernando out for a few more weeks i'm sure he will get more chances. It's just a question of what Ryan will turn up.

Sorry but we can't be sure of that. He has never been tested at another big club before and even at Ajax it's not like he was the most consistent player there. Infact I remember a lot of Ajax fans saying they were glad they had gotten rid of him.

Hes given an interview in a dutch magazine thats out today.

Hes said play me more or im off in January, the other strikers are selfish and no one bothers with him out of the team in their free time.

Said he wants to go he has spoken to Rafa but the answers he gave him didnt make sense so hes none the wiser about his future.

See yer lar

It makes you wonder then why we paid eleven million pounds for him.

A total waste of money on a total flop!
