There is always Lucas?

Any player that want's to go can go.

Players should be a team, no good starting the season with players that
don't want to be their before the first whistle is even blown.

Agreed misty lad . No point in keeping them here if they want to go . Should sell ASAP for big bucks ,, get there replacements in and move on . Nowt else we can do.

Like I said before I hope this doesn't drag on and if they are to leave they leave quickly. We may stand to lose 2 of our best players/2 of the spine of the team but if Rafa is given enough time to source replacements then it gives the replacements time to come into pre-season and make the impact on the squad's pre-season prep minimum. Rafa knows he has a good level of control on the situation given the fact that botth players have 3 years left on their contracts and can play hard ball to a point.

My thoughts (sadly) are that they do both want to go and IMO if Barca want Mascha so bad then they give us Yaya Toure in return & if Real want Xabi then they pay £40m cash or £25m + Negredo + Diarra (ever travelled but a good player IMO).

Maybe the team need a different angle and an injection of new life.

Might not be such a bad thing after all, hey money's money and if they
want to go i'm sure their are round the clock planes too spain.

Good stuff Misty, mate, always looking for the bright side.  Personally, I think we'll find it very hard to build on last year's near success if we lose them both and I hope we manage to hold on to them.  At least one MUST stay, IMO, if we hope to challenge.

I know Bob but it wouldn't be right if they want to go and are staying because
the club won't let them.

We need players to be 100% commited to the cause this season, it's very important
that every player to pull on the shirt does so with a burning desire to win.

It's an interesting one, mate.  I agree that you want players that will run through walls for the club and that, by definition, those looking to orchestrate transfers aren't of that mindset any longer.  On the other hand, losing both in one summer could be a real blow, particularly if we struggle to line up replacements and/or their replacements struggle to bed in.  If forced (and presuming they actually do want to leave etc. etc.), I'd rather lose one of them now and appeal to the other's professionalism.  Give him the old "give me one more season of blood, sweat and tears and if you still want to leave next summer..." speech.  I just can't see past the devastation of losing two members of the spine in one summer.

Loosing both would be very bad, we have to try and keep at least one of them and my money is on Mascha staying.

Yeah I would say that Mascha will stay.Anyway Toure only signed a new contract with Barca last week so can't see Barca going for Mascha.

Eh... some of the good player who could have come in and done a job for us seem to be on their way to other clubs...
Melo would have been an excellent replacement for either of them had they left... now he seems to be on his way to Arsenal...

What worries me more than losing the pair (Mascherano and Alonso that is you sick baastards) would be us not signing suitable replacements or not having a plan for life after they're gone...
Most of the names we have been linked to this summer (with the exception of Silva maybe) are average players who wouldnt add much to the squad... wouldnt even be good replacements as far as im concerned...

btw.. anyone know if Rafa is back from his holidays or not yet ?! doesnt seem to be doing much.. hope its all behind the scenes trying to convince Mascherano and Alonso to stay but i have to say it doesnt look that way...
