Losing your best three players...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Igor Zidane » Mon Sep 09, 2013 5:50 pm

The squad is a hell of a lot stronger than it was at the start of the transfer window . So I'm a lot happier than I was a few weeks ago . The good thing about this year is all the top sides bar us and spurs are in a sort of transition period so we have a good chance to take advantage of the situation . Take the top three players out of all the sides and they would be weaker , ow weaker who can say . It's a silly question anyway stu, 16th ffs lad.
UP THE PURPS !!!

What if we farkin' well lost BTN? Oh, what a joy that would be....much mirth and jovial banter to replace inane prevarication!

(In other words Benny, we wouldn't have to suffer your tiresome b0ll0x on here....)

Yes BTN I don't deny that I would like you to fk off somewhere else. But in fairness I'm not exactly on my own. Having a few digs at you is hardly a campaign is it. I've got to admit that if I received the amount of abuse that you do I would take the hint. As I have said before you actually enjoy the abuse and crave attention. For the record I said I would try and ignore you but you make it very difficult. As for acting like a mature adult that is something I would never credit you with.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years (10 years

Chelsea £788m (£1007m)
Man City £307m (£1012m)

What if ,during a freak log rolling exercise eight of our first eleven snap their ankles and our forced to do light duties by working in the Club shop ?
So owing to this new log exercise that Rodgers has introduced ,should we have retained Spearing ?  As Ewoks are supposedly good with logs.
What if whilst working in the club shop Stewart Downing drops in to buy the new away kit ,and falls over everyone's crutches and into the counter  ?
Now we have to pay West Ham for the injury sustained , So instead we loan them one of our only fit three players left in the first eleven.

That player is Raheem Sterling  :help ,so we send him to West Ham where  after watching all of his Teen Wolf dvds decides to impregnate the Hammers
tea lady ,and Allardyces daughter ,what if the baby has fat Sams genes ,and the Girl needs a caesarian so wide it could hide Neville Southall ?

Whose going to make the tea ? Our goalkeeper that's who ,now we're down to just one outfield player from the first eleven and it just happens to be
Suarez ..................We're fucked people.

I can't understand why people are so against people discussing possibilities !

Would Stu have been derided if he had asked two years ago "What If we lose Lucas "

I thought the main aim of the thread was to discuss the merits of our squad if we lost crucial players because in the past we have lost crucial players every single season. Not one season has gone by where someone hasn't been out injured or suspended and it has cost us in some way.

Stu prob went a bit ott in regards 16th place but I think the point he is making is quite clear and valid - whilst we have started well our squad currently isn't as well equipped to deal with injuries compared to our "rivals"

I'll be honest, the opening post didnt read well for me. Maybe I misread it but it seemed like a gap-filler, negative post. Some have read it more diplomatically, it seems.

Going off the thread title the thread talks about losing our best three players - it can be construed in a number of ways -
1) criticising Rodgers' transfer business in that the players he's bought aren't good enough
2) criticising the owners for transfer business for not spending loads or buying 'marquee' players
3) combination of 1 and 2
4) saying without the 3 players he names we're a mediocre side
5) squad depth is lacking

If it was strictly about squad depth would it not be titled as such and discuss the topic a bit more objectively with emphasis on squad depth rather than Gerrard, Suarez + another?

It's Stu - subtlety isn't his forte - i think the message he was trying to get across was clear - our squad currently isn't strong enough. The problem is that whenever a poster says something that is slightly critical or negative the reaction is massively ott towards the post or poster . And that's exactly what happened here.

I would say we are in a transition period also!?? New personnel, new tactics.

With or without those players, we are still a fairly weak squad.

Lets see how long we can keep the results going can we. :p

Its not the fact that its slightly negative Benny, its the fact that's its worded in such a manner to take away its objectivity - the message may have been about squad depth, his discussion point wasn't. Take away any teams top three players and the whole league would be different.
