the Liverpool Supporters Club
Spirit Of Shankly, the Liverpool Supporters' Union, would like to invite all members, and non member wishing to join and take part, to a specially convenened meeting next Saturday 6th September. The meeting will take place in the Liverpool Supporters' Club on Lower Breck Road, Anfield, and will start at 1pm.
The American owners have hit yet another stumbling block in their attempts to further burden our club with debt, this time for the stadium. We need to increase the pressure on them further, to force them into a sale, and out of our club. There will be a number of ideas proposed, one including targeting those who have financed Tom Hicks' and George Gillett's ownership of the club - Royal Bank of Scotland.
But there are more ideas out there. So let's come together. Give your ideas. Let's force Hicks and Gillett out.
Spirit Of Shankly
Also a group of ex-shareholders together and make a formal complaint to the Takeover Panel.
David Bond and David Conn (two very good investigative journalists) have mentioned it HERE (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -debt.html ) and HERE (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008 ... mierleague). It wouldn't be difficult or expensive to organise and could generate a lot of negative publicity (the kind which bankers etc would take note of).
All we would be doing is (publicly) asking them to investigate the Liverpool takeover and whether shareholders were misled. Any public statements made by G&H prior to mid-March 2007 (eg "we won't do a Glazer") could be included in the submission, along with the statement in the official offer document.
Whether or not the case is successful is irrelevant - we still achieve our objective of negative publicity.
And just to re-emphasise: this is the sort of thing the financial community would seriously take note of.

How can we compete with that.![]()
I reckon this boards going to thin out during the next few seasons if H&G dont budge, when we are fighting to get in the fkin UEFA cup.

The Americans are back talking to DIC, DIC are in the process of reapproaching us with an increase to their previous offer that brings it alot more closer to what the yanks want.
Both Hicks and Gillett will listen to the offer and are now willing to sell as they realise they are now at a dead end and can take the club no further.
This is the first time Hicks has considered selling, and he has informed DIC of his desire providing the offer meets his needs.
This was all going on back end of last week by the way.
