TAKEOVER COMPLETE - H & G Finally Jibbed!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Mon Sep 01, 2008 4:39 pm

Igors right Lakes DIC are no longer intrested its the Shiekh himself.

the Liverpool Supporters Club

Spirit Of Shankly, the Liverpool Supporters' Union, would like to invite all members, and non member wishing to join and take part, to a specially convenened meeting next Saturday 6th September. The meeting will take place in the Liverpool Supporters' Club on Lower Breck Road, Anfield, and will start at 1pm.

The American owners have hit yet another stumbling block in their attempts to further burden our club with debt, this time for the stadium. We need to increase the pressure on them further, to force them into a sale, and out of our club. There will be a number of ideas proposed, one including targeting those who have financed Tom Hicks' and George Gillett's ownership of the club - Royal Bank of Scotland.

But there are more ideas out there. So let's come together. Give your ideas. Let's force Hicks and Gillett out.

Spirit Of Shankly

Also a group of ex-shareholders together and make a formal complaint to the Takeover Panel.

David Bond and David Conn (two very good investigative journalists) have mentioned it HERE (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -debt.html ) and HERE (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008 ... mierleague). It wouldn't be difficult or expensive to organise and could generate a lot of negative publicity (the kind which bankers etc would take note of).

All we would be doing is (publicly) asking them to investigate the Liverpool takeover and whether shareholders were misled. Any public statements made by G&H prior to mid-March 2007 (eg "we won't do a Glazer") could be included in the submission, along with the statement in the official offer document.

Whether or not the case is successful is irrelevant - we still achieve our objective of negative publicity.

And just to re-emphasise: this is the sort of thing the financial community would seriously take note of.

Great... more negative publicity...
Well... The manager fcking up is the reason we'r not challenging for the league.. Bad buys...etc etc .. cant be bothered writing a long post but negative publicity is not what we need at the moment.. we had money to spend (spent 40mill+ if riera deal oes through and im sure Rafa had a little more to spend but decided against it) and the manager brought in the players he saw fit and spent considerable amounts of money over the years... Right about now im getting pretty sick of all the owner being asholes talk and im starting to think that we should be asking more of the players and manager rather than the owner who believe it or not... end of the day.. have little to do with how we perform on the pitch.. They gave the money... we fckd up on spending it... end of..
Stadium and Debt talk is a whole different story and again i cant be bothered writing much ill just stick to saying that the  stadium is a future plan and will go through in 4 or 5 years regardless of who owns the club ..
Debt: not interested in hearing what anyone has to say unless they have some sort of MBA or something and arent biased against the current owners; from the little i know about finance theyr still managing the finances of the club with no major probems... See ManUtd's financial situation for example... dept isnt a big problem imo and shouldnt be blown out of proportion!

From Dave Usher the Liverpool way.

Just to clarify

Dubai are still very much interested in the club, and there is an offer that is still on the table for both the Americans to take them up on, and has been for a while.

The offer on the table would see both Americans walk away with over £60 million each, and is worth around £500 million in total.

From what I understand, both Hicks and Gillett are holding out for £100 million profit each, which would value the club at over £600 million, taking any deal well over £600 million, nearly £400 million more than the £219 million they paid David Moores and other shareholders for the club last year.

How they value the club at such a price is an absolute mystery to me.

I also cannot fathom exactly how we now find ourselves nearly £400 million in debt, with no new stadium and unable to compete with Manchester City for players.

They seriously need to have a reality check, as the offer on the table to them will not be there forever. :no

If something isnt done soon i dont think we will be top four for long, just look at man city bidding the asking price for Berbatov, Villa and Gomez. There going to basicaly do a Chelsea, they even said so, while also stating they have more money than Abramovich.
How can we compete with that. :(
I reckon this boards going to thin out during the next few seasons if H&G dont budge, when we are fighting to get in the fkin UEFA cup. :no

From RAWK.

Hope this cheers a few people up...

The Americans are back talking to DIC, DIC are in the process of reapproaching us with an increase to their previous offer that brings it alot more closer to what the yanks want.

Both Hicks and Gillett will listen to the offer and are now willing to sell as they realise they are now at a dead end and can take the club no further.

This is the first time Hicks has considered selling, and he has informed DIC of his desire providing the offer meets his needs.

This was all going on back end of last week by the way.

The sale must go through.

They don't have the money to buy players and they don't have the resources to pay for the stadium.

At the moment, we have assets in Gerrard, Torres, Masch, Reina, Alonso, Keane etc...and Champions League football assured for another season.

So the time to sell is right now.
