Previous failure at City? As far as I know City wanted to sign him but couldn't reach an agreement with Espanyol. Regardless, his performances at City have nothing to do with him now. He has improved since then, he was solid at Espanyol last season. Saw him play several times.

Keep in mind that Mascherano looked clueless at West Ham before he moved for us.

Not the most glamorous signings, but I think people are going to be surprised by him.

show sparks of brilliance, but will be wasteful in his passing.

Back to Aston Villa for Ashley Young ? He's been a favourite of mine for some time. No idea what the situation is with his contract etc. but that's pretty much academic these days. Any player can stick in a transfer request at any time....

Au contraire, you'll miss some of lil Luis' tricks, but you'll be grateful about his solidness and not mistaken passes.

That would really p**s of MON big time... so let's go for it  :D . Jokes aside Young is a great player, who I would love to see at LFC, but unfortunately he would be way too expensive imo. Didn't MON recently declare, that he was now worth 30 million quids? (yeah I know, he's talking out of his a**e, but still there is no way he would want to do business with us at a reasonable price).

Martin Petrov anyone ? definitely one of the best wingers in the league imo. He seems frustrated at ManCity every game i see him play and hes obviously better than anything they got upfront or in the middle of the park bar Hamann.. Their team is slowly looking better and better though and they could potentially have the best squad outside the top 4 if they go ahead with the signings theyv been linked to.. Ronaldo, Joe, Elano, Petrov, SWP, Hamann, Corluka, Richards, Dunne, Kompany, Zabaleta.. i even rate Harte in goal ffs. Give them a couple of years and maybe a couple more signings and i think everyone will be talking about ManCity. Anyways back to Riera... Can anyone see him starting in any of the top sides:

Arsenal - Rosicky, Nasri - no
Chelsea - hehe - no
Manutd - NO
Tottenham - DosSantos, Bentley - no
Villa - Young - no
Everton - probably yes but then again why are they in this list anyways
Portsmouth - Krankjar - no
Blackburn - Pederson - no
ManCity - Petrov - no
Middlesbrough -Downing - no
Newcastle - umm new guy seems very good - no

Meaning there are atleast 11 teams in the league that have better left wingers and wouldnt have Riera in their starting lineups... makes you wonder what our ambitions for this season are signing average players who will most likely offer us little in terms of having an edge over other premier league teams.. because end of the day, thats what it is all about.

Before anyone starts talking about giving him a chance and him not yet kicking a ball. I do hoppe he does well for us and turns out to be the next Ronaldo but just cant see it happening. I have seen him play a few times for Espanyol and he hasnt imprssed me at all. Plays like Duff on one of his OFF days ... Can think of atleast 10 wingers or so who would have been in our price range and would have been better players to get imo.. and i dont think that splitting the money we were going to offer Barry into two and getting 2 average players instead of just going for one top winger was a smart move at all if that turns out to be the case. We already have players who can play in all different positions the only problem is that they are quite simply.. not good enough

ManCity - Petrov - no

Remember to ask Atletico Madrid fans when they visit us whether they prefer Petrov or Riera. :)

Dont really care what Atletico fans think... i have seen both play and i think that if riera is worth 10 million then petrov surely wouldnt be sold for less than 50mill.. thats the gulf of quality betweeen the pair if you ask me. Petrov would start for most of the clubs in the world including the likes of ManUtd and Arsenal .. Riera wouldnt even start if he was at Boro...  :no

I told you that because Petrov played for them mate, not very succesful there.

He's pacier than Riera, yes. But what about the rest of aspects of the game?
