I would of liked a winger who can actually dribble and beat players. We miss a player than can not only dribble out wide but also run at the heart of defences. A player who can beat a man would of been nice!!

Well I suppose at least if we don't challenge again people have already got their reasons lined up. What do you think of my point earlier Igor that Rafa possibly has a different agenda to some of the board? I think he's going all out for success THIS SEASON regardless, whereas they would take the view they are acting more for the long term. Signing blokes in their late twenties for upwards of twenty mill' is definately a bit of a gamble, and perhaps the board were advised it was just too much of a punt. Personally i would've signed barry because I think he'd have done well for us, but he was absolutely top dollar it has to be said, as was Keane.

if Riera comes - give him a chance, he may just be that player

The only thing is we will all be loking so much at him that as soon as he makes a small mistake we are going to on and on about it.
He will have to be :censored:

hot from his first game on to get all the fans on his side.

Its not that we hate him or nothing like that, most just dont think he if going to fit into the role that we need to fill.
for me its all to do with pace and putting the ball in, well he can put the ball in but he has not pace and that is a must in the prem.
when he was at Man City he would wait for the ball to come to him and by doing this he lost the ball most of the time, when he did get the ball he lacked the pace to catch the other side out.

Why? I mean why should he do that and not Keane, Dossena, Alonso, or any other red?

Certainly there might be some members that are putting dressings on the wound before it occurs -- that is, saying Rafa isn't being given the proper financial backing, the Rafa brigade.

But there are members aswell who are charging the rifle before the war -- The AntiRafa Brigade

And that will lead to lots of heated discussions during the seasons, especially after a defeats.

IMHO that's pointless, because I'm afraid, that if Rafa doesn't challenge this season he'll go, no matter how hard we discuss about it.

So I think this lad should be given the same support that's given any other red, no more, no less. I don't think this lad has to have any especial weight in his shoulder.

no pace = watch the clips of him, he has decent pace and enough acceleration to beat his full back

no trickery = the clips i saw hes like a faster version of harry kewell

no guile = not what i saw from the clips of him

give the lad a chance ffs

he only played 15 games (and alot of those as sub) ffs

if you wanna judge every foreign player based on that alot of great ones would have been ditched

yeah i agree you tube clips can be decieving but look at dirk kuyt clips, they dont make him out to have pace or skills or trickery, so you cant make a king out of a fool all the time

riera has skills and pace and trickery mark my words

gonzalez doesnt look that great on you tube in my opinion, not many examples of him being many men (like there is with riera)

He played 19 times for Citeh........12 league + 4 FA CUP + 3 league games as a sub.

Not sure if thats enough games to judge a player, but how many games did it take some on here to decide that Degen was never going to make it?

He's mentioned him in the same post as he's mentioned Kewell, that's fooked that up. Jinxed.

I read Milner has handed in a transfer request, not that I want him, just thought this was as appropriate a place as any to mention it

prefer to watch him in the whole match as opposed to snippets and have done in la liga last year and when he played at city - pace is one thing he didnt have - most right backs in the prem would easily keep up with him . he is second choice basically so no one will expect much from him . he looked a decent mid table player - along the likes of milner - pennant etc but top 4 club starting winger mid ? imo not at all .

Why do so many people have a problem with this guy? Maybe he was :censored:

for Man City, but have people actually seen him play for Espanyol? I'm all for signing young players like Di Maria, Guardado or Capel, but it would take these guys a yr to adapt to the league and we can't afford to wait that long. Just because this guy's not popular, doesn't mean he's :censored:

. Petrov was crappy in la liga, but he turned out to be a great signing for Man City last season.

Well from what I saw from the youtube clips is that he has the baility to deceive a player, a footballing brain whcih is more important than trickery IMO. He was running at the space between midfield and defence, running at the space between full back and centre back, heading to the byline. To me thats what I want from a player, intelligent unpredictability! Not saying he will be the greatest player ever but I think he should do very well for us.

would put reira in the same catergory as milner - decent mid table player who would easily do a job for the BS or villa or boro etc but not top 4 material and esp in such a critical position for us .
