The Americans are coming...again: Derby taken over by US-based consortium
Last updated at 07:51am on 28th January 2008

The Rams announced on Friday that they have been successfully taken over by American investors, but their identity was not expected to be revealed until a press conference scheduled for 2pm today.

It has also been confirmed that the takeover will not involve the Barclays Premier League's bottom club taking on any debt.

Yanks won't fleece Rams
By James Nursey 29/01/2008

Appleby's General Sports and Entertainment group completed a £50m takeover of the Rams.

And he assured worried fans he has no plans to seek a re-financing deal or make a quick profit on the club like Tom Hicks and George Gillett have been accused of since paying £220m for Liverpool.

"The Liverpool situation is quite a bit different - my guess is they probably made some mistakes that we don't want to repeat," said Appleby. "We want to be transparent, good, honest and trustworthy."

Like I said: other small clubs are getting the basics right first time of letting the right f*cking people buy them, yet we, one of the biggest clubs in the World get bought out by two conning snake's in the grass who have the business sense of a gnate. Parry and Moores have been made to look like complete and utter tools for letting it happen.

The bleedin FBI has even investigated this snake.

The FBI conducted an inconclusive investigation of Hicks after his investment banking firm won a $100 million investment from the CALPERS board over the objections of its staff. The recommendation to invest with Hicks came from an outside consultant who nine months later sold a yacht to Hicks for a $45,000 profit.

Whilst we are all rightly incensed, one question>-

Since when has money been free?

If you buy the shop down the road, the business will automatically have a debt repayment every month. We didnt get 350 million out of thin air, someone, somewhere within the G&H empire has to pay both the interest and repayment of the loan value - is 30 million simply interest or also includes repayment of the capital amount - ie are we repaying the debt as well as servicing it?

If just interest then you could pay we are better of than if LFC Ltd also had to pay off the capital loan but someone, somewhere is also repaying that value to the banks.

Dont get me wrong, I've changed my views and I want these busters out tomorrow but lets also remember that money aint free. :(

The fan's man who was going to walk the terraces and give you a bite of his meat pie at half time you mean?

I bet the stunted dwarf is still hiding behind one of the seats in the main stand with his harris twitching not sure if its safe to come out yet.

George, this is your big moment lad, stand up, pull yer boxers up and defend the soul of the club.

PS: where's that lazy bastardo son of yours?

http://www.soccerblog.com/2007/12/tom_hicks_been_busy_since_the.htm

In this context, since buying out Liverpool with George Gillette in February, Tom Hicks has teamed up with Gatehouse Capital to develop hotels and luxury condominiums in Dallas and Los Angeles. He has also bought a 40% stake in Safemed, a company that optimizes clinical decisions based on a number of patient attributes.

http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2007....k-check

In June 2007, Hicks entered the SPAC market. Special purpose acquisition companies are blank check or shell companies which raise money from the public with the sole mission of buying a company — whose identity is unknown at the time of the I.P.O. The deal making prowess of the manager is central to the perceived success of the SPAC. Hicks Investments, the SPAC started by Tom Hicks looks to raise $400m. He has since raised $552m but is still looking for a company to buyout. As per the IPO prospectus he has another year and a half to do this otherwise the SPAC will be liquidated and the money returned.

No the loan will almost certainly be interest only Reg. The accountants like the interest only loans for businesses as it allows the company to offset interest payments against it's taxable profit (at least I think that's the guts of what my bean counter told me whan I bought my business). He has since told me there's no point in paying off the capital value of the loan on the business, far better to steer any spare cash (as if) onto paying off the mortgage on the house.

The way I see it (and I could be talking absolute b0ll0cks here), the owners are in a kind of win win situation. If we can't pay off the interest on the loan, they personally are not liable as it's held by this KOP LTD front thing. We'd probably either have to sell a significant amount of our assets (ie players such as Torres and Gerrard), cut down significantly on our outgoings (sell some players to reduce the wage bill) or alternatively, they could flog the club to somebody rich enough to wipe out the debts and give them a nice klittle pay off. If on the other hand we are successful and can service the loan, the value of the club goes up and they'll be able to sell it for more, as well as the fact that they'll pocket a few million a year in straight skims. A classic win win situation.

Two things spring to mind here. Firstly it can't be beyond the realms of possibility for the government to put legislation in place which prevents the possibility of sporting institutions whose asset base is entirely the result of years of fan worship being raped of their heritage like this. Secondly, David Moores and Rick Parry should hang their heads in shame. The whole thing is an insult to the literally millions of fans throughout the years who have spent much of their hard earned going through the turnstiles at Anfield and have built up the club so these two fools could allow it to be molested in the way that it cuurently is. They should be embarrased to show their faces at the scene of their heineous crime.

Randolph: I bet you one dollar that we can own the best soccer club in the world within one year . . .
Mortimer: Hmmm . . . go on?
Randolph: . . . without spending a single dime!
Mortimer: Oh Randolph! It's evil - but I like it. You're on!

These two have got on my nerves now. Just a few things to consider (1) How much did they actually spend in the summer? the papers would have you believe £50 million but that's bull about £20 mill for Torres (plus Garcia), 11 mill for Babel, 4.5 for Yossi and 6 for Lucas makes 41.5 mill take away the 16 mill for Bellamy and Cisse, 2.5 for Simmana Pongelle and whatever for Cheyrou means we recieved 18.5 mill plus whatever for the Chocolate teapot Cheyrou means we spent 23 mill which in the light of reaching the CL Final and a new TV deal means a total of $0 left the yank parasites pockets. (2)The stadium design cost how much? then all of a sudden we don't have the money despite these two being loaded? (3) All the promises of being a debt free club have now bitten the dust, how can we ever trust them again? (4) How in God's name is Liverpool FC owed by a mate of George Bush? ???? ???? ????? Jaysus the club is one of the embodiements of the city, a city which is left-wing liberal and we're co-owed by the m
