Smart enough looking stadium but I still think that the HKS one is more of a stand out design.
Either way it don't really matter cos I think Newcastle have got more chance of becoming European Champions in the next 2 seasons than that thing has of getting built.

Be wary of Hicks spin as he fights for Reds support

So please, don’t fall for the Hicks spin, and do all you can to warn fellow supporters, with or without the internet, that the battle mustn’t be allowed to fizzle out now. Hicks is not to be trusted - and even though he asks to be judged on actions instead of other people’s words, his own words are also something he can be judged on. His own words feature lies and broken promises. His actions have seen us lose ground in the battle to be a contender for the title and very little else.

On Thursday night there’s a meeting of various people involved in LFC websites, fanzines, associations, clubs and so on to discuss what can be done to continue putting the pressure on the owners. I’m hoping to be there too. If you’ve got any ideas on showing the owners that this battle goes on, that we won’t be lied to, that we want our club back, if not completely then at least in the hands of owners who think winning might be more important than “fan affinity”, then please either leave them as a comment under this article, or post them on one of the forums of the sites supporting the LFC Supporters Network.

Remember, no matter how much you want to trust Mr Hicks, his past actions have shown that we’ve never got to take his word for it on any issue, at the very, very least we’ve got to let him know that we’re watching his every step. Please don’t let yourselves fall for the spin.

Interesting thing is here it states 15 million for the stadium design so why has Hicks said the price is 50 million?
50 million on a stadium design for a few pictures seems an awful lot of money to me its probably getting laundered in some off shore bank account.

Another little t!t bit of info HKS has a Gerry Hicks as the vice president it would be no suprise if he is a relation to Hicks.

Although I'm a new poster and people will tend to ignore or shout down new posters, I want to propose a serious idea. I would like all those fans who really care to come under the banner of 'Kick Hicks out of Liverpool' and make this our campaign goal. The guy really is the worst possible thing for our club's legacy -both financially, and how we come across as a club.

I call to those established members such as Ciggy et al, to support this campaign. Can someone post a new thread entitled 'Kick Hicks out of Liverpool' where all discussions and plans can be posted? I would do it but feel more likely to be taken seriously if an established member starts it.

If every fan's forum begins a similar initiative this 'Kick Hicks out of Liverpool' campaign can become a catchphrase and known and discussed within the media - I predict an unstoppable domino effect - a gathering juggernaut of anti-Hicksism which becomes so strong Hicks finally admits defeat.

We have so much material and evidence on this guy already that the campaign can be a sensible and well informed one.

For example, any computer whizzes out there can create an anti Hicks website, e.g. called tomhicks.com as a counter measure against his absurd PR campaign to win us over - let's show him and the world that we can see right through his lies.

Of course some detractors will say that this is taking away the focus of the football and supporting the team - I say there will be no team or decent football if this situation is allowed to continue. Others may say let's give Hicks a chance since he has come up with the goods at last - I say it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to realise he has come up with nothing, it's all a sham, pulling wool over our eyes, and we must act now.

Well done mate, some of the best ideas yet, better than all that 'ultras' sh!te that would only do us the fans damage. Shows what you can come up with within the LFC way when you put your mind to it. Credit where its due. And now i say more, more, more.

I am with you guys.....hicks has to go. I know the mess he created with A-rod....

But does he want to go in the first place ? Liverpool is a cash cow for him. There are lots of speculation now that Hicks bought a seriously undervalued club and being the shrewd businessman he is...he won't let it go unless someone pays insane money for us..

He seems determined to stay here and make as much money as possible (for himself)..... so how do we get rid of him ? Is there any other investor who wants to buy over our club ? Is DIC really interested in the 1st place ?

Maybe if  LFC fan contribute $100 (i heard there were 50 million LFC fans around the world....so if 1/5 of them contribute we should get 1 billion), we should be able to buy off Hicks......

If anybody starts this initiative...i will be the 1st one to contribute...

It's definitely time for Hicks to go.  I'm a little surprised how lightly Gillett's getting off in all of this, though.  Just because he doesn't run his mouth to the press doesn't mean he's not a weasely little blurt who shares Hicks's view of the club.

I'm just extremely worried about our future spending and economy.

We are going to have 30 million just in interest each year and twice that amount once the loan for the stadium is done.
And every single player that are bought will just add to that loan.

It becomes almost as even if we paid 9 million for a player he will cost 10 in reality cause the interest payments and fees.

I know each situation is different but I never though I'd be afraid to see a risk of us going where Leeds went.

And NO, tradition, history blah blah will not save us once the
banks comes collecting.

I just wonder how long this bluff is going to continue with spiraling interest cost, bigger debts etc.
There will be no funds for transfers from now on so loans will be taken every year, so on the outside it will look like everything is ok.
But in reality the debt will just keep on getting bigger

Hicks admission casts doubt on Benitez plans

Liverpool's American owners have admitted for the first time that the football club will have to finance around £30 million in annual interest payments on new loans taken out to pay for their takeover of Anfield last February.  

Despite announcing last Friday that only £105m of a new £350m refinancing package was at "club-level", a spokesman for co-chairman
Tom Hicks admitted last night that the club would also be responsible for servicing the remaining £245m, which had been placed on the balance sheet of Liverpool's parent company Kop Football (Holdings) Ltd.

A spokesman from Financial Dynamics, the City PR company which represents Hicks, said: "The holding company debt is supported by the assets it acquired and should there ever be any shortfall in cash flow at the club or anywhere else in Kop in any given year, Kop's ownership, under the terms of the financing package, is prepared to fund whatever is required.

"The debt is being handled exactly as it is handled at the vast majority of professional sports teams."

The admission is significant because Liverpool's chief executive Rick Parry and former chairman David Moores, who remains a director, have resisted attempts by Hicks and his co-owner George Gillett Jr to transfer the £220m cost of last February's takeover on to the club's books.

They voted against the proposal at a board meeting last autumn and their continued opposition to the move was one of the key factors in slowing the new £350m deal with Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia, finally announced last week.

Under the terms of the new deal, Kop Football said £105m would be placed on the club, including £60m for the start of work on a new 71,000-seat stadium at Stanley Park and a further £45m to cover other club debts, including money for past and future player acquisitions.

The remaining £245m was split into two tranches; £60m of so-called existing debt which the Americans say they inherited at the time of their takeover, and £185m, which they say relates to the cost of acquiring their shares in the club.

Liverpool sources say they remain comfortable with the £8m-a-year interest fees which are likely to accompany the £105m club debt.

But Hicks's admission last night that the whole debt would have to be serviced by the "asset", namely Liverpool Football Club, appeared to confirm that cash flows from Anfield would have to cover the whole interest cost, likely to be in the region of £30m at current market interest rates of eight per cent.


There are fears among club insiders and fans that the annual interest costs will wipe out Liverpool's operating profits, which are expected to be in the region of £30m for the financial year ended June 2007, applying a further brake on manager Rafa Benitez's plans in the transfer market.
