I think that if G&H relly beleived in Rafa then they would have agreed to back him in the january earlier and this whole episode would have been sorted behind the scenes and wouldnt even have got to the media and become such a public issue. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Lando M8
I've seen that much :censored: from MONEY men in charge of my team I've felt like giving up.

I posted this months ago and I still feel that Rafa's the right man for the job.

For what it's worth, and as a subeditor myself, I think the NOTW article that has sent the internet bananas today can be put down to some very creative and unsubtle editing on a sub's part.

Bascombe probably wrote a story which brought a few things from the past 3 or 4 days together, and a sub has spiced it up a bit with a ridiculous headline, and some incredibly sensationalistic rephrasing.

I've read the story, and apart from a couple of lines which are very blatantly invented with no attributed source, it's nothing new.

Remember how Rafa was going to walk a few months back? It's that all over again. Fine, he's had a spat with Hicks or whatever, but none of these people are idiots, and it takes more than a disagreement and a few poorly chosen words to end a working relationship. As I said yesterday, I'm much less concerned than I was late last week.

STATEMENT FROM GILLETT AND HICKS

Paul Eaton 25 November 2007
Liverpool co-Chairmen George Gillett and Tom Hicks have today released the following statement.
"Despite speculation in today's newspapers, there is nothing new to say.

"We had a good win yesterday and have got some very important games coming up starting with Porto on Wednesday, followed by Bolton and Reading, before Marseille and Manchester United in a few weeks.

"Both of us, together with Chief Executive Rick Parry, plan to meet with Rafa when we come over mid December to make decisions on the team's requirements at that time."

New statement from G & H (though it basically just repeats the old one):

That takes away my worry of him being fired before the porto match at least.

Still, there no backing for rafa  :(

But maybe thats a good thing... we all know how "we back X 100%" stuff ends up

Not really, he never has his finger on the pulse of things goin on at the club anyway. He no doubt has spent the weekend down Lunn Poly booking a Caribbean cruise for 15th - 22nd of December!!!  :p

i was never happy with G&H buying the team...i've watched them missrun teams over here for years...BUT, they aren't stupid and would be foolish to let rafa go. if he was leaving they would meet with him. with the credit crunch over here they have real issues and need to deal with them. both of them have a history of not just hiring and firing coaches. so rafa is going nowhere for now and jose is just stirring the pot.

just my 2 cents worth. i just wish it was the krafts and not these clowns who owned the team

I honestly think Rafa will leave. Im surprised they are pushing him to this extreme given the way he walked out of Valencia. The fans love him but as we saw with Mourinho anything is possible.

FFS, Rafa is not going anywhere.  Yes he's lost patience with G & H but this situation is very easily resolvable.

Rafa will not be sacked, G & H know that we have not won the PL since it's introduction and sacking Rafa would be detrimental to Liverppol FC doing well this and the next couple of season(s) (new manager = new methods= need time to learn new methods- need I say more).

Rafa is of course right in that the club needs to start getting their hands in the pipework now and as soon as the transfer window opens, make the swoop straight away before Mwancker Utd, Cheeski or Arsenal get their finger in the pie.

Guillem Balague:

"From what I have heard, Liverpool may not be doing any movement in January or, better said, the decision is to wait few weeks before players get sold (Carson, Crouch) or bought. Interesting situation at Liverpool by the way, where the owners stop a manager buying or selling when the team clearly needs a couple of reinforcements that were already identified and apparently were not going to cost a penny."

"I have heard Jose Mourinho is negotiating already with an English club for next season." (also balague)

well it isn't going to be chelsea, man u, arsenal or tottenham is it?! Maybe west ham or newcastle, but judging from what's been in the papers this weekend it's most likely liverpool sadly.
