The Manhattan Project wrote:Are they really hideous ignorant statements? I for one don't want Hicks in particular here. If Rafa is sacked for NON FOOTBALL REASONS then LFC doesn't mean anything anymore - that's not what we are, or what we are about. Remember FC United?
Who would support 'Anfield FC'?
I love Rafa, In Rafa we Trust etc, but that's not what this is about. It's the principle of EVERYTHING that LFC means to me. Everton really will be 'the People's Club' then.
I don't love Rafa. I respect that he's a good manager, but I love Liverpool Football Club. If Rafa isn't the man to deliver what is required, then he'll have to go. Thus far I tend to agree with Hicks and Gillett. He's bought players and needs to deliver the goods now. On Wednesday, we could very well be knocked out of the Champions League. If he had a problem with transfers, then it should have been addressed quietly and privately. This public stuff I don't like. As for Hicks and Gillett, as long as they can 1) provide the needed funds for players 2) keep the club financially healthy and 3) build the new stadium responsibly, then they are fine with me.
First of all Manhatten, I don't post a lot - but I read the site everyday, and you are definitely my favourite poster, you make me laugh, but even so your posts are always pogient (spelling?) and I respect your views very much.
On to your post; they are all valid points, and I agree that if he's not the man to deliver what's required he'll have to go; but it's my view that he is. He is delivering the goods, we're unbeaten in the leage, and we've had our bad patch (the defeats came in Europe). It's for that reason we may be knocked out on Wednesday. Thing is, even if we are, I don't think it's time for him to go. Anyway, I think we will win on Wednesday anyway, but we'll see.
I'd rather it was kept private too - because then I wouldn't be sat up two thirty on a monday morning sh1tting myself over this; but at the same time, Rafa is keeping the fans informed.
Your stuff on Hicks and Gillett is fine except there should be a 4th point added - they must look after the club on the pitch as well as financially, sacking Rafa would be totally irrisponsible and totally detremental to the club's ambitions (in my view).
