It annoys me that the team plays bad for a weeks and then wins a game and everyone acts like everything is ok

I agree with you, Paul C.

Liverpool have been downright awful over the past 2 seasons and had been playing such dour and defensive football since Hoillier became the sole manager. At least in the past, we managed to shut othe opposition out and grind the wins by a solitary goal difference. Nowadays, we can't score yet can't really defend either.

I really can't stand another season of dour football with the same long ball game and relying on Owen to chase these balls and score for the team. Gerrard seemed to always be the one really trying with his non-stop running, chasing and long passes with the others looking so lethargic.

Let's face it, Liverpool's game severely lack entertainment element because of the fundamentally defensive style of play but I watch the live games (I am residing in Malaysia) every time out of my love and support for Liverpool and get knots in my stomach because of the way we play and seeing our attacks being so sterile.

I was lucky enough to have seen 2 live games, both at Carrow Road against Norwich in 1989 and 1990 when I was studying in England. Those days we had players like Whelan and McMahon running the middle with Barnes, Beardsley and Aldo in the offense and the untiring Ray Houghton supporting. That team can pass the ball accurately end to end, with even the defenders able to pass the ball better than the current midfielders. Nowadays, our players can't string more than 2 passes successfully and the style of play is so dour, lacklusture and the general attitude of the players is so defeatist.

No, 4th place finish is not good enough, the team plays really badly and lack ideas to break down well organised opponents and there are too many dead wood who gets to start week in, week out. Houllier has had more than enough time and more than enough money yet he belw it and we need a fresh approach from a new manager.

beating the scum is fine and fantastic but i agree that the result doesn't cover up any of our fundamental problems as a team. our defence has all of a sudden started playing higher up the pitch. also, everything we do is chanelled through the centre of the pitch (we have no width). and upfront owen is predominantly isolated.

saying that houllier is tactically naive is an understatement. safety first has always been his priority. but the fans want to be entertained. he claimed we were going to be more attacking this season and we were for about the first 10 games.

but now it seems to me that our players don't even know what each other are going to do at times. you look at arsenal and they are almost telepathic. their movement is first class. it's quite embarassing to compare wenger to houllier. :(

i agree with some but not all of the above statements, but i still would like one more season with houllier! he's not totally stupid he has to be aware of the fans frustrations and that he has to do something about it and i am fairly confident that he will try to change things! just one more season mind you and then take it from there!

he wouldn't be able to close the door on his way out. he'd blame it on "tiredness"! :D  :D  :D

I STILL THINK WERE ALL TO QUICK TO CRITICISE GIVEN THE TROPHIES AND EXPECTATIONS HE RAISED AGAIN SINCE TAKING OVER! WITH SOUNESS AND EVANS WE GOT USED TO HAVING A TERRIBLE TEAM WITH LADS TAKING THE p#ss! AT LEAST HOULLIER RAISED EXPECTATIONS AND GOT US SOME TROPHIES I DONT AGREE WITH EVERYTHING HE HAS DONE BUT ITS JUST A BAD PATCH WERE DEFINITELY NOT GOING BACKWARDS, WE PROGRESSED VERY RAPIDLY AND ARE JUST COMING TO A HALT, I WOU;D LIKE TO SEE HIM GIVEN ONE MORE SEASON AND START PROGRESSING US AGAIN, HAVE SOME FAITH AND PATIENCE :)

He'd add that he was proud of the way the boys rallied in the last half hour to close the door but the European campaign just took too much out of them.

Personally, i think Strachan or even Peter Reid could have done a better job with the current bunch of players that we have...It is not the fault of the players as much as the system of play, tactics and the bizarre positional placements of some players (Kewell as a right winger?) Thus, it's all down to Houllier... The fact that we would see 4th spot in the league as a 'success' shows how pathetic and sad the state of the club is in rite now.... :(

With houllier in charge next season it will be more of the same us scrapping for 4th place.
Arsenal will only get stronger and chelsea and the scum will spend huge cash in the summer to try and catch them.
We have been going backwards since we stopped playing attacking football after 12 games into last season.
Ever since then we have struggled so many times to even beat rubbish teams with our negative pedestrian style.
If we couldnt win the league last season after our cracking start we never will under houllier.
He has just proved my point this season by his shocking team selections and constantly playing players out of position.
Everybody can see his time is well up and if he is allowed stay and spend more cash in the summer we really will be in trouble.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.
