New transfer spec - Good players to come

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Puddy Heskey » Wed Mar 31, 2004 3:45 pm

Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier, who is confident he will remain in charge at Anfield after the season is over, has drawn a list of players he wants to bring in this summer.

Koptalk report that Manchester City's Shaun Wright-Phillips is on top of the Frenchman's wishlist, and they suggest that he is ready to splash out £10 million for the creative winger.

Other players mentioned are Werder Bremen midfielder Johan Micoud, Sheffield United's Michael Tonge and Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves, who have all been linked with Liverpool in the past.

Must be some bullshite from reporters. And have to add tonge is not premiership standard.

Shawn Wright looks an awesome prospect thought. He is the only player keeping man city up.

Would Hargreaves not be a good partner for Stevie G in the middle.  He's certainly a bit more dynamice that Didi 'one gear' Hamman.

Would love to see Wright-Phillips in our side. An in-form Kewell on the left and him on the right would tear defences apart. Keegan would doubtless want to hold out for more than £10m for him though, as he's probably Man C's most popular player at the moment. I know I keep going on about swap deals, but his arrival would signal the end of Diouf's Anfield career, so it wouldn't surprise me at to see him in a blue shirt next season in exchange were a deal to happen.

As for Hargreaves - he's never really convinced me against decent opposition. I have a feeling he'd be shown up quite badly in the Premiership.

Haven't seen much of Micoud though. Am I right in guessing he's in a Hamman vein?

The reports are absoloute bullsh#t. Houllier will get £15m-£20m tops to spend on players, Cisse is a certainty and there is no way he'd blow the other £5m-£10m on one player. Cisse will come in and i think whoever else comes will be the right player for the position he is signed for.

The only ones that may have any basis at all is Hargreaves and Wright-Phillips, however the prices quoted are boll##ks.

We need a good right sided player. Is one of these that player? I honestly don't know.

Hi Stu, spot on with your right sided midfield needed quote. Murphy has been wasteful and ineefective this season and beinga confidence player he has struggled when the goings got rough this season. I 'd love to see a qualuity right sided midfielder at LFC, Cheyrou (New French interbational - your havinga  laugh !!!!!!!!!!! and Murphy aren;t up to the standard. Remember a few seasons back when Stevie played there ? With Hamann and Macca in the middle we scored something like 125 goals in a season. I know Stevie is practically carrying them single handed from the middle of the park at present but it goes to show you dont necessarily need a "Get to the Byline and cross it" speedy winger on the right side to produce the goals. :D

I rather keep Bruno Cheyrou now, cos he will become better player next season than this season, he deserved it to another chance, this season has been unlucky for him because of injuries problem.

Agree about that we need right side midfielder, Wright-Phillip would be smashing signing for Liverpool, he is young, fast and furious, good technique.

Malbranque would be good signing for Liverpool, but it's might too expensive to buy him, how's old is he?
Cos I am asking you about that.

We need a back up midfielder for Steve Gerrard, cos of him playing all the time, so we don't want to see him to get injured again, perhap John Welsh is ready to play first team football again next season but it would be good cover for Steve Gerrard, what do you reckon, lads?

Malbranque would be very good a right winger ofr Liv. Murphy can actually play in the middle with SG cos he's better there with his passing.
