REAL BETIS VS LIVERPOOL THREAD - all build up, reaction here

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

very good game from the reds. first half performance was superb and you can tell by the way we played, rafa again got his tactics spot on. 2nd half we were pinned back as they put on additional striker and sacrificed a defender and i thought we defended well.

the fact that we didn't get a CB might come back to haunt us as Sami lacked of pace is exposed time and  time again. thank god for carragher!

Well done Liverpool!

A great way to start, bit nailbiting towards the end but we got the three points! :)
Once again Garcia seems to have the knack of scoring crucial goals and as for Crouch  he played very well,I know I was virtually begging Rafa not to sign him,but more performances like this and the humble pie's already on order! :D

Bring on the Mancs (and Chelski) hopefully they'll have the match in Spain as I'm off on my hols tomorrow (the Costa De La Luz)

What impressed most last night was the formation. for the first time i think we could see the way Rafa wants us to play in the first half.

Unfortunatly we also saw that Cisse cannot operate in this system up front on his own. he was dire.

Crouch was excellent and many on here will like as not be eating humble pie very soon. He almost deserves to work for Rafa as his was probably the boldest signing of the summer, big money for a largely unopposed signing of a player that people laugh at.
Zenden had his best game for us as well. I still think he's rubbish but fair play he was Ok tonight. Some have mentioned Traore, and my mate stu will hate me for this but I thought he had a good game. His saving tackle in the first half was top quality and he was playing against top-class wingers all night and did a good job in my view. As mentioned on another thread I thought Cisse did OK when he came on. It seems his petulance is just part of him and I would only really let it concern me if it bothered any of the othet players. It doesn't seem to at the moment as they just seem to all ignore him. He ends up looking like my little lad jumping up and down in the aisles in Tesco's while I make me way to the checkout.

??? Was you watching the same game as me  ???  Traore was dreadful and doesnt even belong in a Liverpool shirt, he should have left as a hero in May :)

What game were you watching? Traore was solid, he kept Joaquin[spelling] quiet for most of the game. Only late in the second-half did Joaquin get the best of Traore.

i disagree....traore made hyppia look bad in the 2nd half.  We all know hyppia is slow and all, but with traore not doing his bit (like picking up the players he was supposed to mark), it made it look worse. Hyppia plays much better with finnan & warnock in the team.......

Great result esp the 1st half when we could have really killed the game. We made betis look very ordinary. But we have to give it to betis for making the transformation in the 2nd half.

there are a lot of positives (i am sure many here have mentioned, but u noe me....i don't follow the crowd). Here are the negatives i can think of.

1)Why so little corners when we have crouch in the team ? It was similar against spurs. I think we only had about 3 corners the whole game (or at least when crouch was there),,,

2)Zenden - don't wanna thrash him a lot, but what the fock is his fav position ? In left wing he looks average (he did put in a cross for garcia's goal). In central midfield he looks awesome...awesomely rubbish. When he got shifted to central midfield, our whole team looked lost..... So what is his preferred position ? I hope risse gets playes at left wing from now on....

3)Josemi - had an average game.... But with him in the team, we are likely to have 10 men and give away unnecessary penalities...

thats all folks.
