A Pembrokeshire pensioner narrowly missed out on winning £1 million for just £1 after Liverpool's defeat of Manchester United ended his dreams of landing Coral's unique Football Jackpot this weekend. However, the betting shop customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, did win more than £72,000 by correctly picking 14 out of 15 correct outcomes on the weekend's football.

"After correctly predicting the outcome of 12 matches on Saturday, this customer was the only person still in the running for the £1 million jackpot, and after Swansea beat West Brom, he was just two results away from winning the life-changing amount, but unfortunately Manchester United failed to win at Anfield, which ended the dream.

However Arsenal's defeat of Tottenham meant he collected the very nice consolation of £72,253.57, which he said will still make a huge difference to him," said Coral's David Stevens.

"New Manchester United boss David Moyes was unable to improve his record against Liverpool, and who knows, if Sir Alex Ferguson hadn't retired, maybe there would be a new millionaire in Wales now!" added Stevens.
