Mate, I remember reading in the run up to the Jan window that the Milan clubs, Bayern, Lyon, Arsenal and others had all made enquiries. Maybe we got lucky that he wasn't on Barca or Real's radar and despite no guarantee of CL footy chose to come to us.

I can't remember anything about the Milan clubs enquiring about him only Spurs but it still doesn't show that the player himself turned them down .

Can you show me any reports of these clubs bidding for Suarez .

As for Jones and Young, both home grown players who were probably Manc supporters in their youth.

There is a difference between making an enquiry and offering a player contract right? I've read somewhere that we were the only club showing major interest for Suarez and the only team that offered him a contract (I could be wrong if Suarez comes out and says he got numerous offers and turned them all down for Liverpool). If Ashley Young or Phil Jones weren't offered a chance to join the Mancs then they would have been Liverpool players by now. The same goes with Clichy who turned us down for City

Nope neither were Manc fans - why dismiss Clichy ? He picked a CL club over us just like Young and Jones did .

I also cant find one report of all these clubs bidding for Suarez and giving him a choice .

When was the last time you remember a player turning down a CL club for us ( when we werent in the CL ) .

Already have done and there is nothing on the Internet Woof - just the story about us being the only bidder and Spurs showing an interest - nothing about Milans or Bayern or Lyon or anyone else .

I seem to remember a lot of clubs being interested in Suarez while he was at Ajax... that's before he got a lengthy ban for biting an opponent, which probably put a few teams off as it's a big investment for someone with a questionable temperament!

In the end I think it only was us and Spurs that were seriously interested. Harry Redknapp has since admitted he regrets not trying harder to sign him, but they had already signed Van der Vaart and wasn't sure where he'd play him, so they pulled out.

What about the Guardian Woof ?

He basically had a choice between us and City and picked City

Jones picked the mancs - if we were in the CL I reckon we might of got Jones but overall I'm going to go out on a limb and say he is overrated and i reckon Coates is a steal .

But the overall message is we need CL - get that first step and then we can think about World Class players arriving

Suarez was considered to be one of the best young players, other clubs must have been interested in him, it couldn't have been just us and Spurs.
