Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

didn't listen but a mate told me he is saying Torres has a huge offer from City. But he doesn't want to go there. And if Barca don't get Fabregas they might go for Torres. Chelsea are interested, but have made no offer. Or he might stay.

That's one of the funniest posts I've read on this bleedin' forum...
I think you missed the rumour that Torres is going to Inter

I know Marca (Spanish paper) were saying that Gerrard confirmed that he wants to leave LFC....I'll take this with a pinch of salt (for the time being).

I heard that some reporter has been told they are staying???

my news feeds told me that some reporter told another reporter that a reporter might tell you that.

Gerrard had done everything he possibly could with the club. Even if he leaves, most friend would probably forgive him. But I think the right thing to do is to wait after the world cup and then see what happened with the owners front. He can start the season with us and leave on jan if things don't plan out.

Remember the last big liverpool hero that jumped ship when we changed manager, didnt he sit on a bench for a season while we won the champion league, then sit on a recovery table for a couple of years until his team was dumped out the prem and then sign for a scumbag team only to sit on the bench again and sit on a recovery table...............cant remember his name,  but if gerrard goes then thanks for the memory fella........you will be missed but we move onwards

Would never hold it against Stevie if he decided it was time to try something new.  He's given us everything.  Last thing I'd do is begrudge him or wish him ill fortune.  That's just petty and childish.  We'll go on.  I'd rather he stayed, because (a)  he's one of the best in the world and (b) because I think it would be heartbreaking for him if we did, somehow, manage to win the Prem and he wasn't the one to lift the trophy.

I agree with you, I think last season showed me at least that Gerrard ought to just move on. It seems like he has lost his drive and ambition at Liverpool. I certainly wouldn't begrudge him a move away from Anfield.

I don't think you can say his has lost his drive and ambition based on 1 poor season. Many players if not all were poor last season. The season before he was on fire and nearly helped us to the title.

He was probably deflated at

1) losing his teamate Xabi and

2) us not bringing in more re-enforcements as was expected.

good point Bav, and add to that , that at times he must have looked around the changing room and said to himself, who is there to back me up or to get the ball to me, who is there that i can pass to?

3) Constant niggling injuries throughout the season

4) Rafa making bizarre descisions to bring Torres off

5) Rumours going around about his personal life

6) Squad unrest (Riera, Babel)

7) General lack of team confidence

Yeah all true though mate. Although the Torres sub one probably falls into a lack of other quality players around him. Had we properly replaced Keane ect...

Steve´s not going anywhere, you forget one thing: he doesnt speak any languages nor does his WAG and whilst he´s a lovely lad I dont think he could pick up more than a few words of Spanish or Italian within 2 years either. I dont think he´d be happy overseas.
