haps wrote:Would never hold it against Stevie if he decided it was time to try something new.  He's given us everything.  Last thing I'd do is begrudge him or wish him ill fortune.  That's just petty and childish.  We'll go on.  I'd rather he stayed, because (a)  he's one of the best in the world and (b) because I think it would be heartbreaking for him if we did, somehow, manage to win the Prem and he wasn't the one to lift the trophy.

I agree with you, I think last season showed me at least that Gerrard ought to just move on. It seems like he has lost his drive and ambition at Liverpool. I certainly wouldn't begrudge him a move away from Anfield.

I don't think you can say his has lost his drive and ambition based on 1 poor season. Many players if not all were poor last season. The season before he was on fire and nearly helped us to the title.

He was probably deflated at

1) losing his teamate Xabi and

2) us not bringing in more re-enforcements as was expected.

3) Constant niggling injuries throughout the season

4) Rafa making bizarre descisions to bring Torres off

5) Rumours going around about his personal life

6) Squad unrest (Riera, Babel)

7) General lack of team confidence

8) DJ's not playing Phil Collins 

Yeah all true though mate. Although the Torres sub one probably falls into a lack of other quality players around him. Had we properly replaced Keane ect...
