So quick to back our failed manager, so quick to slag off our best player  :no

:glare:

So up until now you are happy that our captain has said nothing?

I'm disappointed in Gerrard - as our captain I would expect a captain like response - but no sireee!

and I'm not 'slagging him off' just observing how much he has let us down - more than those bad performances, for which I believe, he is entitled to be carried himself, having carried LFC for so long!

.. when as fans we look for some reaction - the capatin ain't no-where to be seen - AWOL !

What sort of response do you want by the way  ???

.. too little too late Ben.. and who knows what goes on in that mind, when Pepe and Mascha (captain of Argentina) can say something, you'd expect the club captain to express 'something'.. not necessarily in gratitude to Rafa.. but in terms of a message to the fans !

Gerrard ain't no mug, he knows the turmoil fans are in..

Normally I'd criticize him for not talking, and prior to taking over the captaincy I think I did..  Anyway the World Cup means a hell of a lot more right now to Stevie than anything else, I've seen how much playing for England has meant to him in the past so I can't give him a hard time over not speaking up since taking captaincy.  Wish him the best in the WC.

if SG did say anything, the press would twist it to suit there own agendas. But as soon as Englands world cup interest if over he should speak immediately and let the fans know what his intentions are. And be the way IAM NOT ENGLISH IAM SCOUSE

The management job at Liverpool is nothing to do with Gerrard anyway. Hes paid to play and is contracted to work with any manager they choose for the role. He will have opinions but his job is to stay loyal to the club and not get involved in the politics or decisions at board level that frankly have absolutely nothing to do with him whatsover.

I'm not sure what some of you were expecting him to say exactly?  He's obviously not going to comment on the names being floated to fill the vacancy as that would be naive in the extreme for any current player to do--let alone the captain and certainly not when he's got the massive responsibility (and associated burden of expectation) of captaining England in football's biggest showpiece in a couple of days.  No player is going to come out and endorse candidate X or look askance at candidate Y in case it throws negotiations off-kilter or comes back to haunt him once a decision's made.  Surely that much is obvious?

So, is the real hurt here because Gerrard didn't take the opportunity to lament Rafa's departure or wish him all the best?  Couldn't care less about that personally.  Rafa's a big boy, first of all, and I'm sure he'll be fine with how things have shaken out, whether Gerrard's wished him well publicly or not.  Second, I'm sure Stevie's already done the decent/politick thing and rung Rafa up on his mobile to wish him well.  Just because he doesn't shout it from the rooftops so a few fans can nod and say "is right Stevie lad" doesn't mean he hasn't reached out to Rafa.

I dont blame Gerrard and Torres for not speaking out.  What can we really expect them to say?
The club has no money, just sacked a good manager and are about to replace him with a worse one while snubbing a legend in Kenny?

They're both waiting to see if anything happens but i wont be surprised if both leave

get to fck you ye t1t.

He shouldnt be just coming out making statements regardless of whether he is captain of england or LFC.
Only official statements from the club should be made about the manager position.
He cant just go blurting out confidential things.

Zara behave yourself as well.

oi dick head   wind your neck in!   he did not need to issue a statement just a short sentence would have been enough   he earns in 3 days double what most of us earn in a year and as Captain he bloody should have something to say   sorry if that sentiment upsets you!

No, you are being a t1t.
It makes no odds what he earns.
As badbob put it better, what did you expect him to say ?

And i took offence to you needlessly calling our skipper a ponce.
I dont care about the fact that you feel he should have said something thats opinion. Calling him something for not doing it is pathetic though.

He won't say anything until a new manager is appointed.
Stevie knows its an important decision to get the right man or at least a good stand in manager like kenny.

But if Roy is announced, i think Stevie will start dropping hints that he is leaving.  Followed by Torres and Rafa will get Masch and Kuyt for 33 million.
