I've kept quiet on this cos I didn't think it would go down well, but I think that what has been happening these last few weeks has been classic middle management. They wanted Rafa out, but couldn't afford it, so they make his life as miserable as possible so that he feels he has no choice but to leave. The summer funding was obviously the main dagger for them and I have often wondered if they had some cash available, but just were telling him that he had nothing to make it look like he had no hope of staying.

It leads to a position where the position is no longer tenable, where he is looking to leave and the board will agree, coming to a compromise in the payoff as he just wants to get out. Timelines are tight for Rafa to make a decision as he'll need time to get a new team up and running for the new season too. In that respect I am not too surprised, I am just amazed that the board has that level of nouse to pull this off.

I think the rumblings from the players has been simple manipulation from people on high. It's very easy to influence even the most dedicated and loyal person over a period. Once the doubt sinks in, so does the rot and that's where we are at the moment. Players want to win things first and foremost, secondly, I think most actually want to win them with Liverpool. Once convinced that Rafa won't take them there, their loyalty easily wavers.

As for Rafa. I personally think that history will view him as one of our heros. I think that over time the truth will come out and we'll all be stunned to learn of the situations/circumstances he has been required to work under. I think he has conducted himself v. well and has fought in the interest of the club, fans and players and as suffered in the end for it.

I think it is a great shame that it has to end this way, but I do welcome someone drawing a line under it so we can at least focus on a new season without legacy issues and hopefully send a message to any players coming in that the nonsense is over. Big ask I know, but you have to look at the positive.

I think most will be dismayed by the replacement choice, but my instinct tells me that long term he could prove to be the best back to basics option for us. It's gonna have to be someone who sees our current situation as a huge opportunity and that isn't going to be many 'big name' managers. I think it will be Hodgson myself, cos how far can he really take Fulham from where they currently are and what an opportunity for him.

One things for sure, this will be an interesting summer and season. I for one am looking forward to the boards picking up again and seeing us build ourselves up and up until noone can touch us ;-)

not at all I don't read what lakes writes. 

Its just clear to me any ways with all the news I heard over last few months.Plus normaly the players would support the manager if any thing like come out but we yet to hear any forms of support which to me feels like they turning there backs on this report.

I under no reason wanted our manager gone atm not before the owners sold and even then I would have been happy with 1 season with a nice kitty to see if what all you pro's was talking about.

Personaly I don't like his style of setting up a team but I know he hasn't had alot of support from the people above him so maybe just maybe he wasn't able to put his plan of action into effect as well as he would have liked and had to do best with what he had.

I guess now we will never know what he could of done but this is football and tho how bitter it gets it never changes so we as supporters have to either adept or get so stressed out it starts to effect our personal lifes and with having a new baby with me and the mrs we feel we have something to distract us atm.

Why has one of the most popular players in the dressing room and at the club just signed a new contract, Why is it that even the likes of Xabi and Keane have never said a word to disrepect the man, there not contracted to the club, there still bezzy mates with our top players , how come none of them have come out and said , players revolt they cant be sued or dropped for coming out and telling us how much of a tw.at Benitez is ,

Why because they know the fecking real reason behind this and its the yanks . and now that dirty snide Purslow. Hes the one feeding the media with the sh.ite thats going on and now hes got his rentboy mate doing it an all .

Liverpool fans are planning a protest at Anfield on Thursday evening following the news that the club are attempting to force Rafa Benitez out of Anfield with a £3m pay off.
