Liverpool fans are planning a protest at Anfield on Thursday evening following the news that the club are attempting to force Rafa Benitez out of Anfield with a £3m pay off.

While supporters may be divided on their thoughts on Benitez himself, what they are united in is their hatred for owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Supporters are now left with little confidence that the two Americans, who recently put the club up for sale, along with new chairman Martin Broughton, a lifelong Chelsea supporter and banker, will make the right decision.

There is also anger at the way the club have conducted themselves during the process, one again proving that Hicks and Gillett do NOT understand the Liverpool Way. Leaking stories to journalists when the manager is on holiday is not the way to conduct business.

There is also anger at the fee of £3m – less than what former chief executive Rick Parry, who was instrumental in selling to the Americans, received.

The protest will take place at 6pm at Anfield.

The message is clear, Gillett and Hicks are ruining OUR Football Club.

what i am made up that we have owners that are killing the club.

the way i understand it this is not to back the manager its to show the owners how we feel about what they are doing to the club. in my view it would be better if we held it outside RBS in london.

We gotta remeber here liverpool have finished 7th in league Rafa with players at his disposal of the likes of gerrard , riena , Torres , masch , yossi , agger , glen johnson , has finished 7th this is another main reason they are letting him go.Tho I hate them they have alot of reasons to sack him other then trying to rape the club of its money.If any other top 4 club had a season this bad maybe not the mancs due to the power their manager has at club they would have let him go as well in his 5th season.

You're wrong. Simple as that. You said it doesn't make any sense for them to sell our best players. I just gave you an explanation why it does make sense.

It don't make sense to sell gerrard and Torres for 100 mil would drop the value of the club by double that due to fact you can't replace them.

Lakes, you're forgetting one obvious fact here: the chairmen are just pawns. They are not the proprietors of the football club. If the Yanks want to flog players and sell the club, they can because they own it.
