Funny how you have ignored my point about the fact that he was kept for an extra season when he wanted to go the previous summer.
And in that season they won the league.
Yes he went the year after but so what ? by then they had equalled our league title record.

Correct me if I am wrong (and God knows, your fellow anti's will jump at the chance), but didn't Alonso stay another season following the one when Rafa tried to sell him? I could have sworn THAT season was 2008-09... You know, when the scum still had the greasy ponce?

Or did you mean ANOTHER season?

i've lost the thrust of this argument so my comment might be irrelevant, like most of them are really.

but isn't the key issue that ferguson knew the inevitability that ronaldo would be leaving but managed to persuade him to stay for another season while telling real to do one? meanwhile rafa was doing his best to flog alonso for cheap and only tried to keep him the season after when he realised he'd made a mistake.

obviously in some respects it turned out ok as we got a lot more money for him, but who wouldn't swap that 30 million now for the presence of alonso in the team this last season? the truth is that it was a misjudgement of rafa that led to him leaving and another one to replace him inadequately.

disclaimer (which should be part of the forum rules from now on): i'm not a died in the wool anti and i don't hate rafa. nor do i want to suck ferguson's knob, or anything vaguely similar.

The flip-side to the argument coul dbe that Rafa's attempts to sell Alonso made him produce his finest season in a red shirt?

It's a moot point, really. Rafa tried to keep him but could not.

My point being if a manager was brought in to replace Rafa ,given the current precarious financial predicament we find ourselves in how would he deliver anything more than Benitez   especially considering the loyalty Benitez personally has afforded the Club ..

Its actually more "A GIVEN" that he would run tail between legs when given a true assessment of the clubs difficulties and then he would have to learn to deal with daily  hostilities he would be forced to endure from owners and media alike (NOW IMAGINE THESE MAGNIFIED ) ..... Liverpool are .....to put it simply hated and a manager would need to be strong enough to overcome these shameful and sometimes personal assaults on his character

I believe Rafa is the only manager who will fight our cause and not let the owners ride rough shod over all and sundry ......
so in that respect its you who have failed spectacularly in grasping the point

There we have it, a narrow minded and defeatist attitude soley for the agenda; that there is nobody better than Rafa.
???

That is a figment of the siege mentality's imagination. I have spoken to hundreds of football fans down the years of various clubs and never once have I heard hatred aimed towards our club. In fact I've only ever heard admiration from the many fans I have spoken to about LFC. If you refer to the MeDiA as hating us, join other fans of other big clubs who think that, you're (i say "you're" because I'm a Liverpool fan who does not subscribe to the notion that everyone hates us, because it quite simply is not TRUE) not the only ones with this siege mentality, which to be fair doesn't do you any favours at all.

I disagree. The english clubs have been awful this year and all fell at early hurdles. Maureen is under more pressure there than he was at chelsea. He may well win the league but Real Madrid want it all, like chelsea. He simply HAS to win the lot. Thats the pressure that comes with the madrid job. Like chelsea, madrid throw money around to get the players and not the team. Chelsea only just won the league this year, consider the money, they should be walking it.

bbc news reporting
Inter are set to offer Rafa a deal that he will find very hard to turn down. In the deal he will be able to spend up to 120mil on players (not sure if that £).

You won't be able to find any link from the BBC, the link has come from the scum paper according to one of my non-Liverpool fiends.

yep it seems you are right, the bbc have picked up a report from the red top, there was not link mate as its not on their webpage, its was on bbc news on tv.

its unlike the bbc to report something that is only based on the redtops, I am sure they would have looked into it more before reporting it....might have something to do with lots of staff holidays that they are not doing their job right.

Well aren't you the great mediator (slightly condescending ) but ....nevertheless
I must thank you for post and for taking the time to converse with fans of other clubs you're  obviously someone who takes great strides to  avoid Manchester and London where it has to be said exists a "shall we say slight aversion " to all things Liverpool  ,but don't let that bother you its not for  you to attend matches or anything like that ........ Where it must be said you would be able to form a more valid opinion rather than trying to gauge it from a nationwide consensus

Carry on though fella because it has to be said for pure comedic value its priceless
Listen we disagree that much is obvious but to call someone narrow minded without collating the relevant proof is "to say the least a tad naive (and you were doing so well ) .....

As for the siege mentality it comes with the territory  Scousers always adopt this approach its predominantly where our strength  of conviction originates from ....however I am  truly sorry you felt the need for an explanation   ???

Well what top manager will want to manage our club given the circumstances the club finds itself in? Top managers will dismiss any reports linking them with a move to us and Martin O'Neill and Roy Hodgson have ruled out moves to us. So that leaves managers like Kevin Keegan and Jurgen Klinsmann being linked with the club which is why it is of paramount importance than Rafa remains here.

Oh dear, do you want an olive branch coated in pity you poor morsel.

Had you ever left the walls of your city and conversed with people in pubs etc you would find you were wrong. And really it's ironic you laugh at me, when you're sitting there with claiming everyone hates LFC. ???

But hey, it's your prerogative to continue to play the life long mantra that everyone hates LFC.

You may find that the world isn't such a nasty place if you bothered to remove yourself from the rock you live under.

Are you implying I'd make a "valid opinion" at Anfield because the away supporter sing a few "stereotypical" songs? Is that were the "valid opinion" would come from or from the home support  ??? Hmm your point is; erm non-valid and pointless.

You really need to get out and see the world

It's people like you who fuel the fire and feed the youngens with this pathetic mentality. Do yourself a favour and drag your knuckles into the 21st century.
