If you want to be 6th stick with Rafa, if we want to be challengers we need a new manager.

If you want to be 6th just focus on asking for a new manager, If you want to challenge for the title, ask for new owners...

btw s@int, just out of curiosity, if we do get a new manager, which managers do you think will be able to turn us into challengers with the current squad. And how long will it take them?

New owners won't necessarily mean any more money for players, a new manager however will mean a new approach on the field.

Or maybe you are one of those people who would rather see us even deeper in debt, just because spending huge amounts seems to be the only way the present manager can improve our performances?

I would prefer to spend little or even nothing on transfers in the short term if necessary to reduce our debt and get the stadium built. Relying instead on a new manager to get the best out of the players we have and making the most of what little money is available.

The most important goals are to reduce debt, build a stadium and get us back into the CL PLACES. With a profligate manager all three goals are under threat.

I think we will be with Rafa for another season.

Now lets enjoy the WC and then focus on the new season.

I hope the surprise is not us going into the season with only one recognised striker again  :D

I'm worried he's going to buy Pav off Spurs...

I'd rather he didn't play at all mate  :D

seriously tho we need to play with two recognised strikers IMO, two top class strikers. Not just have one as back up, I don't like all this one striker nonsense

isnt this a 'strawman' argument -to wit- ignore the actual debate regarding Rafas merits and instead transport the issue to 'how many 20 mill players etc...' where the poster appears to be on steady ground?

wikipedia
A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting a superficially similar proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.

Yep. Good football post.

Can't say I disagree with anything there.

The "graveyard of creativity" is a sore point for me too. I simply loath the way Liverpool play their standard game under Benitez. It's just horrible to watch. I really believed that we'd had turned a corner at the end of last season, but I was only fooling myself.

Personally whilst I don't disagree with you observation , surely some priority should be attached ?.

You say "The most important goals are to reduce debt, build a stadium and get us back into the CL PLACES"

I'm not an an accountant but from where I sit it looks like some of the goals are in conflict with the other.

I'm not suggesting that we  shouldn't attempt to reduce the debt or indeed build a new (bigger) stadium BUT just how do we reduce the debt AND at the same time build a new stadium  ?

Put the new stadium and even debt reduction on the back burner for the moment, first and foremost we need to sort out the team and it's management.

Right now IMO we should have only one goal, steady the ship and aim to regain CL qualification, the potenial revenue and kudos from that alone should go some way to reducing our debt and restoring our credibility as a worthwhile investment.
