I've never had an alter ego either, and aside from the odd example of people having them when they have been unjustly banned, I can't see the point of them.
On the question of SOS, all things Benitez and the like I think this.
Firstly, I'm going to join SOS today. I don't agree with some of their tactics, I was saddened by the songs at the annual bash, and I think at times they have been poorly led. That said, the fans do need to get together in one form or another simply because both the FA and the government are culpable IMHO and only a collective voice will have any influence. As SOS is the only vehicle available and the guys hearts are undoubtedly in the right place, I think as fans we really have to sign up.
Why didn't I do it earlier? Well aside from the concerns I've already voiced, I haven't been able to get past the idea that SOS is going to be full of the "you're not a real fan if you're not happy with seventh" brigade (and lets face it, it is). I can only speak for myself, but the tendency of some to bury their heads in the sand, put their fingers in their ears, go lah lah lah-lah lah and pretend the sky isn't the colour it is in order to back the manager before telling me I am a c... for not joining SOS hasn't exactly encouraged me down that path.
I DO think such organisations are disproportionately pro the manager, and yes for sure I think such stances has alientated much of the potential membership (it certainly has me anyway). That and the tendancy to call anyone who doesn't follow exactly the same agenda as them a c..., has meant that I've been happy to stay out of it. When you aren't wanted anyway, when you aren't real enough or don't go the game enough or live too far away or don't worship at the alter of failed manager, you don't really feel part of it. You see it on here all the time, all the "how the feck can you talk about the manager when these two c...s are still around" (the implication being of course that you are a c... yourself for voicing concerns). The reality is though, that I think such things as Lucas not being good enough, the Lucas/Masherano axis being a disaster, Benitez being a busted flush etc etc are as much truths as the owners being a pair of criminals (which is what they surely are, thieves by any definition you care to mention, Robert Maxwell types). It is possible surely to have concerns about more than issue at once, all this "well it'll be interesting to see how people vote" sh!t is just about as tedious as the "I think most of these so called fans will feck off anyway, bunch of c...s they are" nonsense.
So I'm going to join up. I don't massively have any desire to have lots of input into it, (I don't think they'd be overly interested in my opinion anyway tell the truth) but I'm going to do it because the voice is louder if many thousands speak at once.
I will not though walk away or "feck off" as some have predicted. I've supported Liverpool for 40 years, from afar admittedly and not "gone the game" too much (certainly not at Home) but football is the game love and Liverpool is the team which plays it which I love. I even kid myself that I've got a bit of a clue about it on occasions, so although it may irk many, on a Liverpool Football Club forum, I will continue to talk about football matters which concern Liverpool Football Club. Sorry if that makes me a founder member of the c...s club, but there it is.
