Because he will have more money to spend. And because we are unlikely to get in a manager with as good a track record.

But if we get money to spend we can attract a good manager.... can't we?

Yes we can but if we do get new owners who can helps us compete in the transfer Market with the rest then I would like to see what rafa can do being able to get all the players he wants without being restricted by funds .

If you'd like to see what Rafa can do when he can buy "all the players he wants without being restricted by funds" you're supporting the wrong club. Infact you're in the wrong sport.

Even Man City can't buy "all the players" they want, and they aren't restricted by funds. It's cloud cuckoo land, and the sooner people get a grip on reality the sooner we can stop having these daft conersations on here. If the club was sold tomorrow and the new owners said "here you go Rafa lad, there's 200 million quid to buy whoever you want" he would buy some good players no doubt (so would we all). Would he though be able to put them together into a fighting unit which can win titles? Would he feck

They make me laugh mate, they call Chelsea for buying the league, then want Rafa to be allowed to do just the same  :D

Unfortunately that's the way it is now . You need the financial backing to be able to compete

Can be a great manager but still need to spend money . Wenger is a perfect example of this . Since he stopped spending money he has won nothing for nearly 6 years now but he is one of the best managers around

If I was suggesting he return as a player I could understand your objections, as a manager what will he have lost over the years..... good judgement, motivational skills , respect, tactical ability?  Nah mate, he has not been in a vacuum, he would get the right people in, clear out the YES MEN, and get the team winning again.

You cannot say for sure if he would still have any of those to the level required for the modern game , even the man himself put most of his success down to the bootroom , he said that's where the trophies where won - utilising the knowledge and experience and tactical know how from them to help him succeed . They are gone now , the only thing you would guarentee would be respect but even then only from the players that know him .

Liverpool legend Ian Rush warns Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard will quit
By Mark Ryan 1st May 2010

Ian Rush warns that Liverpool's top stars will leave if they do not see the club heading in the right direction.

The Liverpool legend reckons they are unlikely to tolerate more than a year out of Champions League football.

Rush said last night: 'It's four years since they won anything. Players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher don't want to be part of a team that doesn't win.

'They've always wanted to win the league. Players like Gerrard and Fernando Torres will stay another season, even if it turns out that Rafa Benitez doesn't . But if the same thing happened next season, that's when they'd start to look around for somewhere else.'

Yep because we all know that half of that maybe more has had to been got from selling decent players - he hasn't been able to just go out and spend without having to sacrafice players to get the funds .

You can't say for sure he wouldn't. He knows just what he requires to win the league because he has won it many times before.  The only thing Rafa knows is how to ask for more money.

Not very bleedin helpful from Rushie...
I think we all know that's the case with SG and Nando. It's also true that the club ownership is in limbo, and it's not a foregone conclusion we'll have any money to spend any time soon.
Comments like this don't help a whole lot, esp. considering he's in a very lucrative role with the club

I would happily bet you money that kenny would not repeat his success for us in the current climate . And why the need for the little dig at rafa ?! He is more than just asking for money . Drag yourself into the modern era and stop living in the 80s , that time and kennys time is long gone

Kenny as manager ? No way...his time is long gone now. I think he has more appetite for the 19th hole than running the team...

He doesn't need to repeat his success of the 80's mate......he just needs to do better than Rafa. Anytime you want a bet on that I am your man. I am pretty confident he can better 7th place.

What about previous seasons then ? Will he do better than them as well or just this one poor season ? Let's not forget the last time he managed a club in the prem he was sacked while they were 13th in the prem .And to please our current set of fans he would have to be winning he league for them not to turn on him in a flash
